Traveling the N.M portion

Having been on the Arizona portion, it seemed only a natural to see the sights in New Mexico as well.

We drove the entire length of route 66 plus some other bits from West to east and it was one of the most amazing times of my life. If you get the chance do it.

Interesting for history lovers. Best for remembering nostalgic places. You feel you're driving back in time.

I rate it 4 out of deep respect for it being one of the longest remaining urban stretches of iconic 66. Alas, indeed shoppes have come and gone which changes its ambiance of say the '50s, but it is currently undergoing a traffic nightmare while Mayor Berry, with much opposition from citizens and businesses losing customers, tears out the two... One of the most modern American treasures. This route is the symbol of America's love for the automobile. Large neon signs and statues flank both sides of the route.

The best section is in Tucumcari but the abq part is pretty solid. It's been tatted up but you can still see what once was.

We our best to travel the old road to and from Oklahoma City with one area being a gravel road near the Texas line.
