This is an old lighthouse that has been in continuous operation since December 10, 1856. It is now continuing service thanks to volunteers who rotate shifts to keep the light burning. These volunteers also maintain and provide upkeep for the other structures on the island. Getting to the lighthouse is interesting as well, since there is no bridge and you... More

We almost got out of Crescent City without a visit to the Lighthouse. That would have been sad. This review is really more about the view as the Lighthouse was not open for tours when we visited. Simply put, if you are physically able to make the walk, don't leave town without making it. The view is extraordinary. We didn't... More

Not to be missed. Was Light House Keeper (volunteer/week) and loved it. Tours great. We take you 1st, 2nd floors and up to the light through a hatch. Walk to light when tide out - schedule easy to get on iphone or come to beach and check out.

I love this lighthouse! It was the first one we visited this trip. I was a little biased from the get go as I like the idea of only being able to get to it at low tide. But the view! Spectacular! We had to go across super early so we didn't get to tour it inside but the volunteer... More

We frequently stop here and walk the beach. If you are planning to go to the lighthouse you need to check the tides and the weather.

The "tide" was not right for a visit, but just a ways north up Pebble Beach Road, I was able to get some dramatic photos. Loved it!

We are on a tour of America one Small Town at a time. You can only get to the light house at low tide. It is beautiful and a great place to whale watch

This is a nice way to spend a couple of hours while seeing great views and lots of local history. The beach and the pier are all close by.

It's March and we went two hours before a 0.2 low tide. Best to go at low tide for you will be able to walk across the rocks without any problem as well as have the opportunity to explore the critters in the adjacent tidepools. We found Purple Shore Crabs, Hermit Crabs, Leather Stars (the lower the tide the better... More

We weren't here on a day tours were offered, but after waiting for the tide to go out, we enjoyed walking across to the island to look around the exterior of the light house and take in the views of the waves crashing on the rocks.
