A bully good historic attraction, not to be missed: the home of Theodore Roosevelt from 1902 to 1906, considered the "Summer White House," a beautiful 23-room Victorian mansion estate that also includes a 37-acre National Environmental Study Area of forest, tidal salt marsh and bay beach.

The house has recently been renovated. Wonderful to see how it looked back in the day. Our tour guide was great. Order your tickets in advance as they do sell out quickly. You can only look from the doorway. A little disappointed that no photo's allowed to be taken inside. Beautiful property.

The home has had significant work done on it and is very well restored. The personality of its owner is much in evidence. The guide was great and when we asked questions she had a ready answer. She took extra time to make sure everyone was happy. We ended up in what was clearly a group of history buffs. I... More

A great place to learn about Teddy Roosevelt and a beautiful place to roam. The house is restored and the guides fill you with history and fun facts. The grounds are beautiful. Be sure to take the trail to the beach, but be aware that it is 0.7 miles and parts of it are steep coming back. Enjoy, it's worth... More

They did a really good job restoring everything in the house. We unfortunately got stuck with an annoying family on our tour (grandparents with young grandkids) and it got a little too crowded at times so I missed a lot of what our tour guide was saying because they took forever to view a room and our guide had already... The visit to Sagamore Hill, Teddy Roosevlet's home was a very enlightening experience for me. A very knowledgeable guide named Daniel took us around all three floors of the house. I learned much about the family that I did not know before. The house is pretty much the same as when Teddy lived there. There is also a museum where... More

I have been here many times, both as a child and as an adult, and it never fails to inspire me. The house is such where you would not at all be surprised to see Teddy Roosevelt walk out and greet you! The architecture and decor are all him: the author, the statesman, the hunter, the soldier. I especially recommend... More

The tour of the Teddy Roosevelt's house wasn't the only "to do" here. There was also the orchard cottage, which is now a museum extension for more Rooseveltiana, the stroll on the several acres of farm and beyond that, the walk in the woods that lead to down to a contemplative walking beach on Oyster Bay. The tour of the... More

So much we didn' t know about Teddy. Start with (as along as it's warm), sitting on the porch, looking towards the Long Island Sound, and then being called in and taken to the first and second floors and the oodles of information. Wonderful!!!

The rangers at this site are the best I have experienced. We love presidential history, and often the rangers are lukewarm about the subject. The rangers at Sagamore Hill love Roosevelt. They cover him fairly, warts and all, but with a true passion for the subject.

This place is great for the beautiful location alone. It's a big plus for history fans. And if you love TR, then that's icing on the cake. My wife, who didn't even know anything about TR when we went ("He was a President, right?") had a wonderful time.
