This is a dry campground with waste station and water available. Great location to stay and see "Old Tucson Studios" and the "Arizona Sonora Desert Museum", both are within driving distance of the campground. Two day stay max for me.....

We stayed 4 nights at Gilbert Ray.. a decent campground, but overrun by the RV crowd. They do not close access at night the way a lot of parks do, so you frequently are awakend in the middle of the night by arriving RV's, driving...More

Tucson Mountain Park has many trails to explore amongst the saquaro forest. Beware: there's automobile glass on the pavement which indicates car break-ins.

This is a beautiful drive with lots of desert scenery including saguaro and other cacti and rugged hillsides. Worth a visit to enjoy the magic of the desert.

Tucson Mountain Park is nestled next to Saguaro National Park, and continues the majestic beauty of the Sonoran Desert. The Saguaros stand eight stories tall with multiple arms showing them to be centuries old. Hiking trails and many amazing sunset views looking over Avra Valley....More

We stumbled across one of their trails while chasing the sunset. We did a little hiking and would have loved to do more but found it difficult to find trail maps. Beautiful area!

The Park is adjacent to Saguaro National Park west. Thank heavens someone protected this precious natural environment from McMansions and other developments. Just a short drive west of downtown Tucson via Gates Pass, Ajo Road or Twin Peaks Road you will discover thousands of mature...More

This is a county own park, right next to the National Park. There are a few trails. The top of gates pass (Speedway Blvd. far west end) is maybe the best sunset view in the Tucson area. Near this park is Saguaro national park, Arizona...More

The Sonoran Desert never ceases to amaze--it's become a favorite environment for inspiration. Seeing the diverse wild life that thrives, despite these dry conditions encourages me every drive through.

We went to this park right before sunset and enjoyed the view as day transitioned into night. Once the sky was dark, the stars were out in full force. It was worth the drive.

There is indeed some impressive Sonoran desert landscape here, but it's far from the top of the list in this regard in the Tucson area. Catalina, Saguaro, Sabino, etc. are all more attractive IMO.
