El Rio is a nice city course - mostly flat terrain with some challenges presented by bunker placement. It's certainly not the most scenic or well maintained course in the area, but the price is right and it's a fun place to play.

This course used to be one of the best deals as far as Tucson municipal golf goes. However, this course has not received the attention it deserves. The course is currently not in horrible shape, overall. However, the green side bunkers are HORRIBLE!!! There is no sand in the bunkers. On top of that, management has put sand in some... More

Average course, wide open areas. Lots of gravel areas as rough, sandboxes are typical mostly finer stones not really sand. The greens were the worst I've played on. Mostly dead from winter with only patches of green here and there which makes putting accurately nearly impossible. Nice clubhouse and service, but needs attention to the fairways and especially greens,

I did not care for this course. There are no fairway layouts on the score cards or the tee box signs. Also they have the holes so close that when you see the flag, there are often two flags and it is hard to decide which flag you are aiming for. It is also a long course. I will not... More
