I've lived in Tucson for several years and had no idea that the UofA was a major 'player' in astronomy and the exploration of space. This is a real gem, right on the UofA campus and well worth a visit. The exhibits are very informative and the variety of laser shows have something for everyone. We saw the Tucson night... More

Great place to spend an afternoon. The University of Arizona features a wonderful permanent Mineral display, and at the moment "A Modern Gem and Jewelry Collection" is on display featuring some impressive jewelry designers and their works of "art". The science centre also provides lots of interactive displays for children. If you are interested in viewing more than one film... More

We came, interested in the Planetarium's programming. We enjoyed the exhibits that surround the main floor. I especially liked the gems and interesting displays of cut gems as well as something about the creators of these beautiful pieces. The 2 o'clock show in the planetarium featured the invisible world, a National Geographic presentation. It was a short one of about... More

It's nearly impossible to walk away from this venue without having learned something new and interesting about our universe. If you have questions, bring them along, the staff is knowledgable and eager to give you valid answers.

Took the entire family, 7 adults 6 kids. We all enjoyed the Our Stars show and the kids especially got into the blocks and puzzles activities, it turned into a competition among all of us. Exhibits also were interesting and the minerals museum. Excellent fun and educational experience for all.

I took my kids and they had fun learning about the planets. Kids get to do activities and its entertaining. They also have a downstairs area full of Rocks from the Gem Show probably? If you stay until the sunset you get to see through the telescope and we saw Saturn at that time. Great indoor activity for hot summer... More

Flandrau was built in the 70's while I was a student at the U of A. They now house the Mineral Museum along with the planetarium and a hands-on kid-friendly area with mind puzzles and such. The shows were very interesting (we saw two of them). The shows are shown on the ceiling of the planetarium, which holds about 100... More
