The great views of Tucson from A Mountain are sometimes missed among the other many attractions in the area. It is really worth the effort to get up there.

We drove to the top on a beautiful February evening. The city lights stretching across the valley surrounding the mountain are beautiful.

We drove up to the top of Sentinel Peak and parked and took some of the walking trails around the peak. There are several degrees of difficulty in the choice of hikes. It was an easy hike (I have difficulty climbing) and we were rewarded with a great view of the city from the southwest.

While there was indeed a beautiful overlook of Tucson, I was a little disappointed by the folks hanging out up there. There were cars playing loud rap music while kids were sitting at the car doors smoking and drinking. Ruins the atmosphere a bit. Also watch out that it can closes at 6 on Sunday (before the sun fully sets).

Very short ride up what looks to be a small mountain, but when you reach the top, you can see all over the Tucson valley. U of A students paint the giant Big A every year.

Sentinel Peak, known as "A" Mountain by the locals, is a fun place to visit, particularly around sunset. It offers a great view of the surrounding Tucson area. We've frequently seen it used as a backdrop for professional photographs.

We were hoping to get a sunny day to drive up A Mountain and we got it. We also wanted to walk the dogs and it is dog-friendly. The walk up to the peak is fairly easy and the view breathtaking. However, it was really windy. The dogs had no trouble but it is rocky, so be warned. There was... More

We parked in the lot leading up to Sentinel Peak, got out of the car and were puzzled as to where the trail started. Another couple there thought it was one to the right, so off we all went. We walked half a mile on that trail realizing this couldn't be the right trail. Went back to the parking lot... More
