First of all, it's bigger than it looks. Secondly, the Navajo weaving of rugs, blankets, clothing were stunning and the history behind them. Perfect place to spend about an hour and a half on a rainy day. The price was reasonable, $8.00 for seniors too. Also liked...More

The Tucson Desert Art Museum is a wonderful collection of local and regional artwork. The displays are dramatic but tasteful. The museum has occasional fundraisers and juried exhibits. It is a great place to spend some quiet indoor time.

The Desert Art Museum is relatively small, but it's a nice collection, well selected and presented. It's especially strong on weavings of the southwest native American tribes, but also has some basketry, pottery, paintings and artifacts in the permanent collection. They also have temporary exhibits....More

Thought we would spend an hour and spent over three. Defiantly a must see. Small entrance charge. Start with the short movie on weaving so get a better perspective on the work and talent that goes into the weavings. Gorgeous perfect examples of tribal designs...More

This museum is worth a stop if in Tucson for even a few days. I was fortunate to see the Navajo rug exhibit, but there is so much more to see. Very much worth the time.

The Navajo textiles are the highlight of this museum, but there are also some lovely paintings by Chavez. The special exhibit on Hollywood in the Desert was very interesting and well laid out. It would be nice if they allowed photos inside and expanded the...More
