Retired Navy 20 Years ago, frequenting this base once or twice a week for business/recreation. Clean & friendly. Watch your speed since the Security forces has their school here- then need plenty of training :). Selection is limited in the BX/Commissary but fits most people's...More

Everyone begins his or her Air Force career here. They are the basic training center. I have run into folks all over when they hear that I'm from San Antonio, I get a Lackland basic training war story. Prior to 9/11, I was able to...More

The airman run, coin ceremony and graduation were heart warming, emotional, awesome, and made us proud to be an American. Get there early for parking, seating, and if you want to be in the center for the airman's run. After the airman run and coin...More

This USAF base is so beautiful. The grounds are so clean and well kept. The Gateway Restaurant has the best food on the buffet. And the building is gorgeous.

What a beautiful base, the dorms are immaculate, the grounds clean, the Airmen polite. We visited the store and the golf course for dinner.

So much Air Force history and military history to review, enjoy, experience. One of the several military installations in San Antonio; great stop for Military or History buffs. May be a challenge to get on base with all the security issues going on.

It's an Air Force Base, so comfort absolutely is not its purpose, but if you go for BMT graduation just know that you are in for some time spent sitting in uncomfortable bleachers. (This is especially true on Friday.) We ate at the bowling alley...More

It brought back lots of memories coming back to base years after Basic training. Things had certainly changed, and I was viewing things from another point of view. It brought back fond memories, and when you're there and able to enjoy the base after work,...More

Are you going with anyone who is active/retired military? If not, I believe the only way to tour the base is with a school or organization that has made a formal request. To my knowledge, the general public isn't allowed... More

I believe you have to have someone stationed on base to enter as a civilian. They have to meet you at the gate. I was told that is the only way on under more recent rules or laws.
