I guess I was expecting it to be like the markets I’ve visited in Mexico. It isn’t. There were a bunch of over priced imports, every shop selling the same thing. I would not recommend walking here from Alamo plaza. Safety is a little questionable....More

The day we were there a man was doing magic in front of since of the shops. That was pretty cool. But we had gone to eat and to go the shops. So we had some free entertainment. Just not a lot of shops.

This wasn't quite what I expected especially the inside 'mall' section. Mostly mexican imports (same at each shop) with US (over priced) prices. Couldn't even find a decent Tshirt?! Ordered a flat beer from the inside vendor as well. Almost each store had signs stating...More

Nice place to visit, but nothing there worth taking home. Good place for not so cheap trinkets, if that's what you are looking for. Also quite a few places for Tex-Mex Food.

This is a place for souvenir shopping if you are in San Antonio! We spoke with some very nice local vendors while browsing the shops. We were there at the start of Fiesta, so there was a bit more foot traffic in the area.

I like to visit Market Square in SA early in the day (lunch time). There are lots of opportunities for entertainment, shopping, and eating.

From live music, fresh tacos and great beer there's always something going on here on the weekends. There's lots of shops with authentic Mexican made souvenirs ranging from shot glasses to cowboy hats n texas size buckles.

Very exciting time visiting El Mercado. Area was well lit, safe, and shops just begged for us to go in and buy exotic and fun items. Within walking distance of many downtown restaurants and sites. Loved it!

I agree with a spending cap. I would say for food AND a souvenir-$50. I also would empower them with the phrase "not yet". There are so many high pressure sales going on in this market. Let them know that they are the one in... More

I walked there with a foreign visitor and it was daylight. There were many homeless people along the route and I did not feel overly unsafe but I did not feel super safe either as we walked to and from. I would not walk... More
