I'd heard about Ft Marcy earlier in our trip, so I swerved the car when I saw the sign. The park has a great view of Santa Fe and is worth the trip for that reason. Ft. Marcy was constructed in the 1840s and was never meant to last. It didn't. There are four or five nice plaques that talk... More

The site of old Fort Marcy is now a completely abandoned and desolate hill overlooking the oldest part of Santa Fe. But learning about what the place was and meant in the mid 1850s brings to life a time lost to us, but from a place where it is easily imagined. Online histories of Fort Marcy are easy to find.... My photography class used this location for field work and the views produced some spectacular scenery views and video. A few picnic tables, small parking area and a few short paths. Good for a picnic or just see the city.

Unfortunately, I didn't read previous reviews to know where to park! 😕 We hiked up and read the placards. Little biased towards the monks as opposed to Native Americans, eh? Sunset was gorgeous!

This high point allowed us to see the full color palette of the New Mexico sky as we watched the sun set. Bring a jacket - when the sun goes down it gets cold quick - but you want to stay because just when you think it's over, a fiery red glow erupts from behind the mountains to the west.... More

Great view of New Mexico sunsets. Little bit of a walk to get there but not bad. The view is over the town.

We walked up the hill twice once in the day to see the views across Santa Fe and then we returned on new Years Eve to watch the Fireworks across the town. Great view and lots of good pictures taken.

We walked up the hill and read all of the plaques about the history of Santa Fe. It was well worth the climb - some nice views at the top, too.

We made a point of driving up to the park at sunset the evening of the recent Super Moon. We watched a beautiful sunset and moonrise within minutes of each other. Also a nice 15-minute hike up from the Plaza area.
