More
The Santa Fe Botanical Garden strives to benefit all Santa Fe and New Mexico citizens, and our area's many visitors. The Botanical Garden is an independent nonprofit, not a part of the four Santa Fe state museums, with a commitment to affordable admission and providing monthly Community Days free for New Mexico residents. Our educational mission raises awareness of critical issues such as water conservation, climate change impact, and responsible gardening practices. SFBG consists of the Botanical Garden on Museum Hill and the Leonora Curtin Wetland Preserve. The Gardens provides an "outdoor living room" where everyone can connect with nature, marvel at amazing plant varieties, and benefit from a place for contemplation. Visitors can relax under shading ramadas, discover a century-old red bridge, and explore the Art Trail, where changing exhibitions of sculpture will encourage return visits. With an array of native and traditional plants, awe-inspiring stone and metal work, and breathtaking vistas, the Botanical Garden is the essence of New Mexico. The Landscape Architect is W Gary Smith, and we are currently in construction of a 2nd phase, an Ethnobotanical garden to open in 2016. Please stop by and enjoy beauty and lessons to be learned in the garden! Thank you.

Sorry. I love botanical gardens. But not this one. Note, of course, that it was December so plants were mostly shut down for cold weather. But it was small and very conventional. There just wasn't much there. On the bright side, there was some very...More

Do not expect this maturing Botanic Garden to be like other larger and fully mature Botanic Gardens in Phoenix, Albuquerque or Denver etc. But it is a good example of New Mexico Xeriscaping with sculpture mixed in. The stone work, various arbor structures and occasional...More

Thanks for your review, MaryEllenM27! Yes, we are a growing garden (just four years old) and nature dictates. We're glad you appreciate the beauty and the features we have here and hope you're able to make it out each season as we continue to grow!

This garden has only been open for 4 years, so is early in its development. The reception and gift shop are in a trailer and the washrooms are temporary outhouses. While there were not a lot of flowers, there was fall foliage, cacti and a...More

I'm sure it's wonderful in the spring/summer, but fall is fall and not much to see. What in the world....you must put more words where nothing more is needed?More

Thank you for your review, Becky M. Sorry that you didn't feel there was more to see in the garden. Fall is a favorite time for a lot of folks here in the Garden with the changing of the color of the native grasses. There's...More

We went here last year during the holidays and several times since then. It is a wonderful garden with lots of space and interesting plants. They did a wonderful job last Christmas with the night showing. Don't miss it!

After seeing the ABQ botanical garden there’s no comparison. You can go thru Santa Fe’s in maybe 15 minutes. We were there 2 days after a killing frost so the flowers were gone. But even so, it’s small. The stone work and a few statues...More

This is quite the gem - I found the design of the garden delightful. There are a lot of small garden rooms and quiet places to sit and enjoy each area. I am a gardener and thoroughly enjoyed seeing how a small space could be...More

If you love botanical gardens this one will not disappoint. I make it a priority to see one where ever I travel. It is located on Museum Hill and is easy to wander about.

My husband and don't know much about plants, but thoroughly enjoyed walking through all that beauty. Extra benefit was a great recommendation from the gift shop lady about another 'must see' in Santa Fe which was much appreciated.
