Ten Thousand Waves is inspired by the great Japanese mountain hot spring resorts. Ten minutes from downtown Santa Fe, but only minutes from the National Forest, there is nothing quite like this on the North American continent. Among piñons and junipers are beautiful outdoor hot tubs and spa suites, world-class bodywork & skin care, and the amazing izanami restaurant. For a lucky few, it is the closest lodging to the Santa Fe Ski area.

Surprise highlight of my trip to Santa Fe. I wasn't going to go because I can get a good massage at home. On a whim I did go - without a reservation. Was there when they opened (9 am) and they had a opening at 10. The setting is a big part of the experience. There is a pleasant climb... More

Ten Thousand Waves has been straying from its Japanese onsen roots as it apparently struggles to accommodate the Texan influence and the inhibitions of the millennial generation. It recently reconstructed the public tub area in quite a nice way, but then required that all users wear suits. Of course, this is entirely contrary to the practice in Japan where the... More

David Thanks for your feedback about our new Grand Bath (and your nice words about our restaurant!). As you noted, the genders are normally separated in Japanese public baths. When they are not, almost 100% of the hot springs and spas require bathing suits. In all our travels over many years, we've only found about a dozen onsen in the... More

For my birthday, my daughter booked a hot tub and massage for me. When we arrived in Santa Fe, we drove to the reservation building and also booked a massage for my husband for the next day. They said everything looked in order and we would see them the next day. When we arrived the next evening, the front desk... More

Go Early. The earlier in the day you visit the less crowded the spa is. It is clean and a very peaceful experience. The foot massage was wonderful and my skin is still soft from the body glow. I love the foot soak that you can do while you wait for your treatment.

We (two female relatives) booked a package a few days in advance, and the staff making the reservation were very friendly and helpful. We carefully studied the website maps to find the location. After marking our mileage and driving up the road, at about the right distance I first turned into a parking area that turned out to be for... More

After a long drive this place was what we needed. Really beautiful and nice but a little high price. Private suite with hot tub was 100 dollars an hour. With the hot tub it would have been nice to change the temperature it was eighter very hot or cold shower. When all that is said, it's worth the visit

The most wonderful spa experience I have ever had. The atmosphere, the staff, the amenities are beyond anything I have experienced at a spa. The soaking tub in the rain and thunder storm…WOW!

I'm not much of a massage guy, I got my girlfriend and I a package deal for her birthday. Private tub room (shoshi) was awesome, we had a hot tub, a sauna, a cold plunge, and a nice view of the surrounding woods. It was great. But our massages, oh my god. We had the masters, Wolfgang and Robert. Wolfgang... More

Ten K Waves has gone full disneyland with the new communal tub and mandatory bathing suits policy. If you were considering coming here because a friend recommended it to you, things have changed. If you are an adult without kids, find a different place to go.The new tub is too shallow for adults to enjoy and too hot for children.... More

Dear Spiral Whenever we do something new, there are inevitably a few regulars who wish for the good old days. We're sorry that you miss some of the features of our old public tub. However, we've pleased a half dozen guests for every guest we've disappointed with the remodel. Here's what has improved: -twice the deck space -three times the... More

We got a private tub after our friends told us how much they loved it. It was quite a walk to main entrance but well worth it. It snowed and yet was perfectly warm ! It was so peaceful. We didn't get any of the spa services but we will be back!
