The round exterior implies lots of interesting exhibits inside. It is just a fancy office building for the governmental workings. I saw this back in 2011 and I must have missed the signs pointing out tourist spots.

I accidentally came upon the State Capitol gallery a number of years ago and have consistently returned to it. It is FILLED with paintings, photographs, sculpture, furniture by a huge variety of New Mexican contemporary artists. It's a real testament not only to the artists of that very-artistic state, but to the politicians (or whoever) who had the vision to... More

Spent almost two hours touring the New Mexico capitol building's art collection. Well worth your time if you want to see a varied collection of both traditional and contemporary artists' works. It felt a little weird to be walking around people's offices but I guess they're used to it.

I always like to visit the State Capital Building in States I visit. This one is fantastic and the building is very nicely finished, I loved the marble and it blends in with the beauty of Santa Fe. It is a functioning government building yet it fully open to the public and you can take a tour and go into... More

This is a working State House, with legislators, lobbyists, and supporting staff all busily working throughout the building. But the Art displays are amazing, and all accessible for free. Visiting the roundhouse is a must-see for Santa Fe.

I highly doubt that we will ever see a Capitol as beautiful as the New Mexico State Capitol. We were amazed at all the beautiful varied artwork displayed throughout the building. Even more amazing is the fact that you can visit all the offices and Senate and House chambers. A highlight was visiting the Governor's Office. When most government offices... More

This roundhouse Capitol building may have been the highlight of our Santa Fe visit. The building itself is fascinating, but we were astonished by the quality, volume and breadth of the art work displayed throughout--even the office copy rooms held high quality work. The people of New Mexico are fortunate to have such a public treasure.

On our way to Canyon Drive, our bus driver advise we should tour the Capitol. It was free and beautiful art work. My friend and I went the next day and we had a college student that was working on his intern show the building. The art work was incredible and the story's behind the process of how it’s selected...
