Facility has basically three areas for bears- two are similar round pods (good size with ponds, water features and many items to interest the bears. These contain two brown bears each. The third area includes trees which black bears frequently climb. The facilty takes in...More

Very neat place - This site receives no government funding so they rely solely on the money collected for admission and sales in the store, and donations from local businesses. They take in orphaned bears for rehab / treatment and then send them to zoos...More

This santuary for bears that would have been otherwise dead by now, cares and raises them until a zoo home can be found. Learn why they can not be released into the wild - like British Colombia does. Educational.

What an incredibly unhelpful view. I always do my best to dedicate some of my time to responding to negative reviews, to address the concerns raised by people that clearly have misunderstood our project, not read any of our educational signs, or talked to one...More

This place is about 5 miles from town and several shuttles and taxis are available here from Centennial Hall. The people here are saving baby bears. It is Alaska procedure that when a mother bear dies, the state kills the mother’s babies. This center saves...More

The bear 🐻 shelter for orphaned bears who would not survive in the wild. It’s a not for profit centre located in an abandoned saw mill. The centre is staffed by very passionate people who provide a very informative talk. Our guide Chris was excellent...More

Must visit this wonderful privately owned bear sanctuary! The stories of these bears and their survival is amazing! More realistic than any place we have visited.

We took a bus ride to the site - we were told we would be picked up in an hour. After 10 minutes here you have really seen the whole facility. There are two pens that have 2 black bears on one side and 2...More

This is just an old-fashioned bear pit with an evocative name. Yes, the bears are animals who would be killed if they weren’t here, where they are fed and cared for. But the facility does not pass muster as a habitat. Too depressing for me....More
