Great side trip. Beautiful artifacts and admission is $5. Very knowledgeable staff. Right down town. Ho early to avoid the cruise ship bunch.

Built in 1848 this Russian Orthodox Church suffered a tragic fire in 1966 burning it to the ground but was rebuilt. The parishioners rushed into the church saving icons and other relics that are on display. A landmark of the city and beautiful to view...More

For a $5.00 per person contribution you can tour the sanctuary and examine the numerous icons, paintings and pictures. Extremely peaceful. They are refurbishing the outside and can use the help. A definite "must do" in Sitka.

Learn a bit about the Russian involvement in Alaskan history. The cathedral is well laid out and decorated.

Remains of the Russian Orthodox religion still alive in this outpost. Wonderfully preserved icons and relics in this beautiful church.

There are some very moving icons inside the church with a Blessed past and some Holy inspriations... well worth the fee to walk around inside the small but moving church

Looks good from the outside, and from a distance, but is truly depressing on the inside. The roof is leaking, the walls are peeling, and the staff seem to be interested only in getting donations. I sympathize with their need for money to make repairs,...More

Depends on which pier - however as already expressed - you can walk the older part of the town. If you are on a Hawaiian Dream cruise you will be in the town proper them bused to the pier.
