Definitely some interesting things in this museum, but surprised at how small it was. The shop on the main floor had some great books for sale.

We had overlooked this Museum during several previous visits to Newport. This time we had some extra time during the Winter Festival and so we decided to explore the Museum. The building is a National Landmark. The entrance fee is a voluntary donation and the...More

Located right there on the Wharf, this museum has a lot but is not comprehensive. A good place to start.

We stumbled on this wonderful resource, operated by the Newport Historical Society, quite by accident. The building itself dates to 1762. Downstairs is a terrific gift shop staffed by friendly personnel while upstairs is an amazing museum. Donations are voluntary but $4 a person is...More

Didn't visit the museum upstairs but took ages wandering the fascinating shop on the ground floor. Interesting gifts which of course I purchased but received a flavour of the town just by wondering around the shop. Great place but Newport itself was a joy. Recommended:-)

When taking a break from shopping, walking, recommend this break and still getting a history lesson. Lots of easy to carry items back home in shop, and sure you'll learn something new.
