Overview
More
Commissioned by Nevada silver heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs in 1899, architect Stanford White modeled Rosecliff after the Grand Trianon, the garden retreat of French kings at Versailles. After the house was completed in 1902, at a reported cost of $2.5 million, Mrs. Oelrichs hosted fabulous entertainments here, including a fairy tale dinner and a party featuring famed magician Harry Houdini.

A house designed for entertaining. Beautiful lawns stretching to the sea. The setting for Gatsby and its air conditioned.

We purchased the 5 mansion package and decided to make this one of the 5 mansions we'd visit. I thought it was worth the visit and found the mansion to be very nice. It's a more toned down approach to the "summer cottage" approach than...More

It's so worth the visit. For years, we have talked about visiting the mansions. We took time today, buying a 5 mansion ticket. We started with Rosecliff. Unbelievable. You must go see it!

If given the chance chose a different mansion. Very small grouping of rooms even though they were lovely. Good exhibit upstairs, but small tour.

Interesting history of this beautiful home and grounds. Not as grande as the Marble House but was the place to go for partying. Built to reflect the wealth of the owners, it is still beautiful although the original interior design must have been stunning. It...More

Not as stunning as the Breakers, but still very interesting. The site of many movies that needed a large mansion setting, including the orriginal Great Gatsby with Robert Redford & Mia Farrow

This is another of the wonderful mansions in Newport. Perhaps not as large as some we've seen, but interesting on its on.

This one was picked by our youngest and it was a great choice. I loved the pop culture history it possesses.

This seems smaller than the Breakers but certainly large enough. The history of the wonderful home comes to life with the audio tour equipment they provide. Don't miss this one.
