One has to buy timed ticket online before going. So we had relatively small group and great guide. Interesting to learn more about Doris Duke, Since she lived here until the early 1990's the mansion is much more up to date than other newport mansions we visited

This was one of the best of the mansions that we visited and certainly wa s the best maintained. A former mansion of Doris Duke, the tobacco heiress, it had a stunning art collection and beautifully decorated rooms. It is maintained by the Newport Restoration Society, which is different from the Newport Preservation Society.

I liked this tour the most. Great knowledgeable guide. Beautiful house and grounds. Fascinating woman. Sit outside after the tour. The best view in Newport Go there first. I liked it better than the breakers

We had a little extra time after touring all the Mansions and decided to visit Rough Point, one of the homes of Doris Duke. It was just the way it was when she lived there with her many pets. The guide was great with so many personal stories about Ms. Duke, the dogs her camels, etc. We are go glad... More

This was why I traveled to the area. I remember a movie about her life and wanted to see this house. One of the best vacations I could ask for , PRICELESS I

Doris Duke was a very interesting and generous person and her home reflects her personality. Wonderful guided tour, and very informative. Although not included in the tour options with the other Newport Mansions, this one is worth the $25 admission to see. Johanna was our tour guide and did a fabulous job. Don't miss it!

What an incredible home! I wish I could have taken photos. It was fascinating to see inside this historic home and hear the stories of Doris Duke. Guide was so knowledgeable. I really enjoyed this tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, walking through the few rooms available for the self guided tour, there were still docents around who were happy to provide more information or answer questions. We found it to be an interesting mix of art and collectibles, with the hint of a recent occupant.... and the view and grounds were spectacular! We toured at our... More

Rough Point was the summer home of Doris Duke. Unlike the other mansions on Bellview Ave. she actually lived there until 1992. It's part of the Newport Restoration Foundation, which she started, not the Preservation Society which gets all the publicity. The tours are small, no more than 12 to a group, and the guides are wonderful. She was a... More

Beautiful views and lots of art. Be prepared to stand and stroll for more than an hour. Outstanding home with a different back ground than the other Newport mansions. All art and furnishings are original to the home. I would have liked to hear a bit more about Doris Duke and a little less detail about the art work. I'm... More
