About
Since opening in January 1999, the Battleship Missouri Memorial has attracted more than 10-million visitors from around the world with a fascinating tour experience showcasing the USS Missouri’s unique place in history. Located a mere ship’s length from the USS Arizona Memorial, the Mighty Mo completes a historical visitor experience that begins with the “day of infamy” and sinking of the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and ends with Japan’s formal surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. The USS Missouri had an astounding career over five decades and three wars – World War II, the Korean War, and Desert Storm – after which it was decommissioned and donated to the USS Missouri Memorial Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Association operates the Battleship Missouri Memorial as a historic attraction and oversees her care and preservation with the support of visitors, memberships, grants, and donations.

    WOW, just WOW
This was the highlight of our visit to Pearl Harbor. The ship looks like she could head out and fight today. Visitors are allowed to see most of the ship which is really cool. We took a guided tour to see the boilers and command centers deep below. I highly recommend visiting the Mighty Mo!

    Amazing Tour
We booked this tour last minute and it definitely worth it. We did the optional 25-30 min tour they was included on the battleship. Russell is such a sweet and funny man. I enjoyed listening to him and learning about the battleship. After the tour, we were free to explore the battleship and take pictures. Overall, I would recommend this tour.

    Pearl Harbor Memorial/USS Missouri
We attempted to get tickets in March for mid-June trip and it was sold out. The website advised that additional tickets would be available at 3pm the day before the visit. I was logged onto the website and when 3pm arrived, I initially couldn't get on the site, but it said there were 75 tickets available in each timeslot. I refreshed by 3:01 but all tickets for ALL time slots were gone. Very disappointing after being logged on and ready to select tickets right at 3. It's difficult to understand how hundreds of tickets were gone in less than a minute. We did get to visit the Aviation Museum and Tower and it was wonderful.

What a piece of history - well organized and definitely come early and have lunch afterwards
We toured the battleship after our early morning visit to the USS Arizona Memorial. There is a free shuttle bus that takes visitors here, and same free return. We left our large bags at the storage facility, and the battleship does not allow large bags/backpacks. Did the self guided tour and sat in on some guided ones when we found the information was interesting. Especially on the Japan surrender signing deck area. We felt we got to see so much of the ship quarters and area, it really was well organized and well done! You could probably spend all day here. It gave us a good sense on how life may have been on the battleship. Good history preserved. We are so grateful. They have a food truck with ample shaded tables & seats that served good food. Got a burger and Hawaiian BBQ plate. Sat by the water and looked at the battleship while we enjoyed a nice lunch after our visit.

    Great Family Activity
This was a great activity for our family. Even our teen daughter did not complain, which is high praise for any educational activity on a vacation! I only wish that the clear bag rule would have been prominently addressed/posted prior to our arrival.

    Visiting the "Mighty Mo"
As an historian, I've always wanted to visit Pearl Harbor. This was my second time, but my first time to visit the USS Missouri. I highly recommend it. Myself and a friend of mine visited it this year as we had visited the USS Arizona memorial in 2022 but did not have enough time to make it to the "Mighty Mo". We walked the tour ourselves and did not choose the guided tour. We both wanted to take our time going through the ship. I walked the entire ship in the parts that were open and took a lot of pictures. It was most interesting. You can see the story of the Missouri from the time she was commissioned until the time she was decommissioned for the second time. There is a lot of history there, including standing on the deck where the Japanese surrendered in 1945. From the deck, you can also still see the damage from a kamikaze attack earlier that year. It is very educational and there is even a section below decks on Japanese kamikaze pilots, for those who are not familiar with them and their tactics during WWII. Again, I did not take a guided tour, but I did happen to walk by a group several time and overheard the guide. He was very great in telling certain stories and giving facts. From what I could ascertain, he had the group very much engaged. If you go in the summer, it will be hot on deck, but don't worry, there's usually always a good breeze going and below decks is air-conditioned. Again, I highly recommend visiting this great piece of our (American) history. Also, visit the gift shop. The ladies working in there (I'm sure their were some gents as well, but I was helped by ladies) are very friendly and asked me multiple times if there was anything I needed help with or if I had any questions. Even our bus driver on the way over there and back was entertaining. I'd say it was overall an excellent adventure. Kudos!

    It was an honor
Just visited the USS Missouri, and I’m still in awe! What an incredible piece of history. Standing on the Surrender Deck where WWII ended gave me chills… as I looked forward toward the Arizona memorial.

    Emotion and history
I visited the Missouri Battleship in September 2023 and I must say it is a place not to be missed. It is loaded with so much history and emotion that it is downright overwhelming. If you visit Pearl Harbor, choose to visit the Missouri Battleship. You won't be sorry. You will need at least 2 hours to visit the ship and the price per person is $35. This price is only for visiting the ship, if you want to visit other attractions within Pearl Harbor, they involve separate costs.

    Fabulous History
I did the Captains Tour as well as the Chief Engineer tour in addition to the general admission ticket and it was well worth the extra time and money! Lani and Evan were the tour guides for my groups and they were very knowledgeable and fun while sharing the long history of the Mighty Mo. If you love history, I highly recommend these tours and the time o-n board.

    Amazing
We greatly enjoyed visiting the USS Missouri. It was interesting, had great visual impact and gave us a lot of history. My 10 year old loved it but even my 7 year old was excited walking the deck and touring the interior (they were both astounded by the bunk and mess hall areas). Highly recommend a visit as part of the Pearl Harbor experience!

Battleship Missouri is a well-preserved and fascinating walk through WWII history, which is a must see if you’re visiting Oahu.

Touring a battleship is an adventure in itself, but Mighty Mo is a bit more special than the rest based on its symbolic location docked at Ford Island right next to the Arizona Memorial and its status as half of the American “bookends of WWII.” Also it’s 360 degree view of Pearl Harbor, the mountains and south shore is tough to beat.

A few tips to consider.. bring good walking shoes and sunscreen. If you’re not affiliated with the U.S military/govt, you’ll have to arrange access and transportation through the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center or 3rd party excursion entity since Mighty Mo is technically on the active naval base. It does cost ~$35 for general admission, but I assure you it’s worth it. The Battleship Missouri Foundation is a dedicated, nonprofit contingent of volunteers that put all proceeds towards maintaining, preserving and improving the ship. You’re money is going to a great cause.

On deck, they have numerous, highly knowledgeable guides that can explain some of the history, which is a great intro to your visit here. For timing, you could easily spend like 4 hours aboard if you’re a military/history buff to digest all that the ship has to offer.

If you only have an hour or two to spend, here’s what you should hit at minimum.. the six-gun display facing the bow/Arizona memorial, the “Surrender Deck” which is starboard side facing the submarine piers, the officers living area & Captains quarters and the bridge (a couple decks up) where command and navigation was done.

Allotting some extra time will enable you to explore the under decks where the bulk of the crew lived and worked, which is also super interesting. This is an amazing site and totally worth the trip!

That's my major impression after a full day at Pearl Harbor.
The USS Missouri couldn't be moored on a better, nor more meaningful place: 200 met from the USS Arizona memorial after which attack US entered WWII.
On Missouri, the unconditional surrender of Japan was signed in Tokyo bay on 2 Sep 1945, marking the end of WWII.
I suggest taking a free tour first, runs pretty often and takes around 30 min. After that you can explore the ship on your own - it's well signposted with many interesting things to see. Count on around 2 hours for a visit.
This isn't the biggest battleship I've visited, I've even been on Midway and Intrepid aircraft carriers, however this one has enormous historic and emotional importance marking the end of the bloodiest conflict in mankind history.
The only reason I deduct one star, rating 4 is a very steep price of 35$ pp.

I thought the history presented was invaluable. the unfortunate result of visiting the lower decks was the bombardment of mold and now I am suffering an acute respiratory responsce. I wish there was a warning before you went below deck, as the labyrinth of hallways, makes escape impossible. The library was the trigger. The rest of the area, including the crew quarters was also quite pungent.

We came here as part of a Pearl Harbor tour, but I wanted to write here separately to note that Lisa was an incredible tour guide and made our experience a great one! This ship is a cool part of U.S. history and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I thought it was quite impressive that they had the USS Arizona where WWII began next to the USS Missouri where the treaty was signed to end WWII. You can see the spot where the treaty was signed. Included with your admission is a free 35 minute tour and a museum admission. I took the tour which doesn’t go through the ship quarters. I saw the bridge but didn’t have time to see the quarters. The ship was impressive but I thought the admission price was on the high side. You must take a shuttle bus from the Arizona to get to the Missouri on Ford Island

I'm a WWII history nut, so I should be rating a visit to the USS Missouri as an "Excellent" site. Perhaps because I've toured a fair number of warships, I found touring the Missouri an average experience (not bad, but not excellent). The price ($35) may be a bit high for a family if all members are not excited to tour it. If you have never toured a large warship and the time you've allocated for your day at Pearl Harbor permits it, then definitely do tour it. If you've toured a few other warships, you may find the sites and scant informational material on the Missouri just OK; I've seen information presented more compellingly on other ships. The Missouri could use more explanatory signs/placards. The history of the Missouri, in particular its use for the Japanese surrender, is interesting, but the spot on the ship where the surrender was signed is not particularly dramatic.

Well worth the stop especially if you enjoy history. She is a beautiful ship and should be seen by all. My adult sons felt this was their favorite out of all the sights of Pearl Harbor.

My favorite part of Pearl Harbor. My father was in the Pacific Navy in the mid-1940s, and the Mighty Mo really gave me a sense of what it was like to be a sailor on a WWII battleship. In retrospect I didn’t allow enough time and 8 will be back when I visit Oahu again.
