Many of Hawaii’s alii (royalty) lived in Waikiki and King Kalakaua selected a 300-acre track of land at the base of Diamond Head for a public park in 1867. Today, it is a gathering place that thrives with walkers, runners, tennis enthusiasts and picnickers. Grab lunch on Kalakaua Avenue and enjoy it in one of the shaded picnic areas scattered around this colorful park.

A beautiful park with interesting activities

I think the trees and plants are wonderful, I have also enjoyed markets in the park. It is close by the busy areas in Waikiki but is really serene and typically Hawaiian

It's got such a large grassy area, you can have picnics, play soccer, or hang out with friends. It's a great place for kids also! Check out other kid's activities for the summer here! https://www.facebook.com/HonoluluActivities

Although we did not spend time here this trip because of a few medical problems, we usually spend part of every day laying under a palm tree and circling the tree as the sun moves to catch either the sun or shade, usually having a nap too. It is especially entertaining on weekends when locals and their families come to... More

This is a lovely park at the end of Waikiki beach, and there's lots of things you can do, such as walk around, hit the beach, shop, visit the zoo and the bandstand, but as a city park it's just average. Parking is usually a problem, but if you drive far enough you can usually find a place.

Great for running, biking and just walking around on a weekend. There are often craft shows with lots of neat stuff by locals. Worth the trip.

Beautiful park at the end of Waikiki Beach.. great for walking, soccer, picnics, tai chi with scenic Volcano as a backdrop. Not safe at night as there are many homeless who live on the beach near the park and use the toilets. There is the Waikiki Shell venue in the park.. which should have been built instead near the beach... More
