I decided to go to this museum after I heard they had 2 Gauguins. I go there and find they house not only Gauguin, but also Monet, Gogh, Pissaro, Modigliani, Picasso, Lichtenstein, and the list goes on. I also loved the paintings depicting scenes and people of Hawaii by Grace Hudson. The museum itself and its courtyards are also very... More

Beautiful open air building (exhibits are in a/c controlled environment.) very nice survey of European, Asian, Pacific Island, and Middle Eastern art(Doris Duke Collection.) Special exhibits have been excellent. Recently enjoyed a look at Pop Culture fashion associated with Tokyo's Harajuku. Admission price is reasonable (unlike the Bishop Museum) resulting in multiple visits per year. This museum is a treasure... More

Even if the collection at this gallery was rubbish (and it most definitely is not), I would still recommend it. For starters, the building itself is remarkably beautiful, both from the outside and in. Inside, most of the galleries open onto leafy and serene courtyards, great spots to cool the heels and reflect on what you've seen. Occupying one of... More

The museum is situated in the middle of Honolulu, yet I'd only visited a handful of times before. I was invited to see the Rodin exhibit, which I really enjoyed, and enjoyed a delicious lunch in the Museum cafe. Afterwards, I explored the museum by myself and had forgotten how lovely & peaceful it is. I most often visit the... More

This museum is excellent. We bring visitors here all the time and they are surprised at the diversity and quality of the collection. The museum is situated around a court yard and is broken up into several rooms. Each room represents a different part of Asia. I.e. Japan, China, Korea, India etc. There are also European and American works of... More

Some of the best views of Diamond Head and Honolulu are from this location. The grounds are park-like and beautiful.

I was so surprised at the variety and famous art we saw at this museum. Every major artist I could think of has work displayed in this museum. It also has a small library and cafe. I wish I had planned better so I could have stayed longer.

Thank KJ C
