I visited the Honolulu Art Museum while my sister was in the Straub Medical Center hospital across the street.Very good collection of Impressionist paintings including huge rectangular "Water Lillies" by Monet, "Wheatfield" by Van Gogh and two Paris river scene paintings by Pissaro, among others. Other rooms include works by Picasso and Diego Rivera. A quality art museum.

Very worth our time. Old main building has wonderful Hawaiian artifacts, lots to see. New building with the volcano exhibit also worth a bit a time. Best thing is the planetarium show on Polynesian navigation. Informative and entertaining.

What a great place to enjoy art in its finest setting as you walk through centuries of art history and views of the past and present. Special studies of the Pacific Rim art to view. Recommend the wonderful museum cafe for a part of your visit.

Lovely building housing a charming collection of art masterfully displayed. Spent three plus there on a day with torrential rains outside. Nice cafe for lunch, too!

We've visited the museum on a number of occasions and always have particularly have enjoyed this collection, which reflect the wide geographic range of his books regarding Asia and the south Pacific.

Plan on spending several hours to tour this museum since it is huge! From the outside, the museum does not look large, but it is spread across multiple buildings, each building with multiple floors, showing cultures of many generations, across many different cultures.

We have visited the museum on both trips to Honolulu and have been very impressed with the variety and quality of the art. You can really get up close to the various paintings etc and there are never crowds. The cafe produces some of the best food in Honolulu. Both times we have had lunch there, the food has been... We were two coples traveling from the mainland to Hawaii. We really enjoyed this small art museum. It was nice to get away from all the crowds of Waikiki. They had a great lunch place there.

Again, as part of our hop on hop off bus tour we came upon this museum, described by the driver as "Mrs Cooke's Old House". It seems Mrs Cooke was a school teacher in Honolulu in the early part of the 20th century. It would also appear that she was very comfortably off and was a member of one of... More
