We enjoyed our visit to the arboretum, but know now that we should have taken a tour. I'd hoped to learn something about the plants, but couldn't on my own, there isn't enough signage. The trails are good with one major easy path and other trails that intersect with it. This is a good place to walk if you aren't... More

On several visits to Hawaii we have visited most of the botanical gardens and arboreta. We were charmed at Lyon by the intense presentation, well done for a small arboretum, and then discovered we had been investigating only one small portion of an extensive collection. We finally covered maybe 15-20% of the total, in a couple of hours, before heavy... More

It was very pretty. Enjoyed the lush and quiet location. A true touch of paradise. Well worth the entry fee.

We stopped here after we hiked Manoa Falls. We wished we would have known it was adjacent because we would have spent hours in this beautiful place and the nice trails. This is a great place for older people to visit.

Wow! Came across this place by accident and it is truly a hidden gem! Tours are available M-F at 10 a.m.for $10 and well worth it. Also self-guided tours. We took the tour with Don and he was so knowledgeable and told us all about the plants, trees and the history of all of them, how they came to the... More

I visited this Park four years ago. It is lush and quiet and takes you away from the City altogether. Worth a trip up there...One can take The Bus and then it's just a short walk to the entrance.

This arboretum is a part of the University of Hawaii. It's located in the mountains north of Honolulu near the UH and Manoa Falls hiking trail. It's a winding road, but all but the largest vehicles can get here. Near the site the two lane road had washed out so only one lane is open. Parking is limited so avoid... More

This arboretum is more like a naturalized nature center. The plants are growing freely. Some of them have labels. They are affiliated with the University of Hawai'i so they do research and plant propagation. The hike is slippery when wet. There are roots, rocks, and mud when it rains. It was beautiful. Tons of great flowers. The exotic birds sit... More

Unlike Manoa Falls, it rains or at least drizzles nonstop here. It is so unique that it is worth the extra 30 minutes of hiking in addition to the Manoa hike. The visitors center has restrooms. It is free but they accept donations. There are very few people in the tropical rain forest. Inspiration Point is only about 10 minutes... More

A beautiful, uncrowded easy walk through the lovely hills in Manoa. It was lovely to be in the trees with the cool air, the birds around us and very few people crossing our path. It is at the very end of Manoa Road lots of parking and admission by donation. Run by the university of Hawaii, the paths are well... More
