A great deserted beach

Most tourists miss this amazing beach because it is halfway between the Shrimp Trucks and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Too bad for them but great for the rest of us. The beach is beautiful, the showers and toilets are convenient, and last summer a food truck started parking here to provide light meals and refreshments. This is the beach of... More

Malaekahana State Recreation Area is a beautiful, quiet beach in Laie, North Shore Oahu. Our vacation rental was on nearby Laie Point. From our porch and patio areas we could see people walking and swimming to a nearby island...we were intrigued! Unfortunately both days that we went to the recreation area the waves were very high and it was overcast... More

Plenty of parking, picnic tables, green space, and a whole, lot of quiet. For some reason, this gem is off most people's radar, but it's one of our favorite spots on Oahu. The beach is never crowded, and though the park is busier on weekends, on weekdays, it's a quiet natural sanctuary. You can hear the wind and the waves and... More

Spent this weekend camped out at Malaekahana with family and friends. The Campground is well-maintained; mowed grass and defined dirt roads. Perks: 1) Reserved sites are large enough for tents, cars, etc. 2) Firepits 3) Restroom facilities (not Port-o-potties) 4) Sinks/Water spouts (great for washing dishes) 5) Outdoor showers 6) Close to the beach (sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous) 7)... I happened across this beach on my last visit to Oahu. I'm glad I did! Beautiful beach, only other people I saw was a family a ways down the beach. So calm and quiet, water is calm, so great for swimming. There was some plastic debris that looked like it had recently washed ashore, but no trash (paper/take out/ etc),... More

Reserved 4 paddle boards and only 3 were there. Attendant was very rude. Didn't want to refund our money. Beach itself was nice

Uncrowded bliss. We encountered very few beach goers in all our visits here. Consistent small waves coming onshore in clear turquoise waters. Water activities, in my estimation, to be limited due to the rocky and shallow shore-break. We did see 2 snorkelers on our first visit, but they were definitely locals. There is a few places along the beach that... More

been here twice and virtually had the place to ourselves. In the right place you can be sitting on the beach and not see any human influence at all. Crystal clear water, turtles, fish. Great kids snorkelling place

This is an incredible beach. The cabins are very bare-bones. A toilet and a counter which passes for a kitchen area, along with a bedroom with a foam mattress and two bunks are all you'll find here. But the lanai is spectacular and the setting is amazing! Bring your own toilet paper as none is provided. There is electricity so... More
