A nice building that uses a large lobby to often house exhibits and community issues, Honolulu's City Hall is a beautiful building. It is well lit at night and is the center of holiday lights in December. There is nothing more to see as you pass (really) on your way to the State Capitol, the Mission Homes or Iolani Palace.

Honolulu Hale is the political seat of the City and County of Honolulu. "Hale" meaning "home" also implies a meeting place. The mayor and City Council have offices here and public meeting rooms are open. Don't forget to go to the basement. The photos of all of Honolulu's mayors line the wall. Art exhibits are usually featured in the main... More

We were looking for authentic historic Honolulu buildings, but did not come across any on our first day there. The second day we happened to find Honolulu Hale, City Hall, which was built in 1927, originally as a Spanish mission. We were surprised to learn from the Civil War display in the lobby, that 200 sons of mostly abolitionist missionaries... More

We took a trolley during the City Lights Tour. Honolulu Hale was just beautiful! A grand building with alot of charm. There must have been 30 Christmas trees decorated by diff. city depts. Santa was there to greet the little ones. Outside, there is a huge Norfolk pine decorated with many colorful lights. An easy walk will take you past... More

I am not joking when I say that there were more kids and parents lined up along the parade route than at Disney's nightly closing parade ceremony! I wish towns on the mainland were as enthusiastic about Christmas as much as this city is. The parade was disappointing. We thought we were towards the end of the parade route and... More

Great tropical-themed Christmas displays in and around City Hall. Go at night when It is all so colorfully lighted; the kids will be mesmerized and you will be delighted to see the happy expressions on their faces. Best of all it is free. Displays inside the City Hall rotunda are produced by the various city departments so the competition for... More

This display of Christmas w/ a Hawaiian flavor is always a favorite! Located @ city hall & surrounding blocks, lots of Christmas lights/decorations, displays, a few food vendors, and a small carnival ride area for the kids. The centerpiece is the Shaka Santa & Mrs. Claus display in their Hawaiian Christmas attire. Best enjoyed @ night. Inside city hall, there... More

If you have not had a chance to go inside...you should. It is an amazingly beautiful building on the inside. The best time to see it is at Christmas when they have the Honolulu City Lights. Make sure you look up!
