For a weekend trip, we practically had the place to ourselves, which for both the hiking and the driving tour made for a calm and stress-free daytrip. It allowed us to actually slow down on portions of the drive and see the views / read...More

Great day trip for the kids. Use backpacks and bring bag lunches to travel through the countryside from site to site or just use a car.

My family and I came during one balmy winter day and drove around the park following the Encampment Tour. This park is so beautiful! The landscape is just pure, raw beauty. People come in to walk, run, hike, and play. We came with our two-year-old...More

Visited in the winter and still had a great experience. Admission is free to the park and museum. Would recommend that when you visit plan staying at least three hours to be able to enjoy all the sites scattered throughout the park. Also there are...More

If you are going to walk to most of the exhibits at valley forge, you need to schedule about 5 hours. That way you can listen to the lectures at the visitors center, Washington's headquarters, and the huts. Then there is... More

How long does the driving tour take? Where is the chapel everyone keeps talking about? Is it on the premises? We love historical sites. We won't arrive until about 2pm. I noticed they close at 5. How much will we be able to do? We really want to do the driving tour and take in sights.

We walked around the park figuring that the men camped out there for the winter did the same. I think it gave us a better appreciation for the time they spent there. Three hours would give you plenty of time to drive part of... More

If you're driving, you can go as fast as you like and someone can narrate from the map. But easier, faster and more informative to park and take the tour for 1.5(?) hrs and have someone else drive and talk.
