Its an amazing place...to understand where the lines were drawn and the battle that took place...you can almost understand the closeness and sadness faced during those troubled times. How disturbing the so called victory was ..not a person won ...even the blacks who were freed from slavery were robbed of their right to federal land that was given to them..... More

A definite "worth it". In fact, your entrance fee allows you to return for seven days. That is what we will do next time.

This park never grows old, we always find something new to talk about afterwards. We've been visiting it for years, we actually by yearly passes.

What a wonderful memorial to the men who fought in Vicksburg. The grounds are throught provoking and beautiful.

Driving through this park and seeing the memorials, canons, and vistas is an emotionally moving experience. While the area is incredibly beautiful, one can't forget the supreme efforts and human loss that happened here.

We used our cell phone to take the driving tour. Put it in much better perspective than any written display.

Most places I read recommended spending 1-2 hours in the park. We spent almost 6! If you are at all interested in history or military strategy allow time for the movie, time to drive around and time to stop multiple times to soak up the history of gallantry, courage, and sacrifice. They are making changes to balance the need for... More

Some people say you can do the park, visitor center, USS Cairo and cemetery in 2 hours- don't believe them. If you truly want to enjoy and understand this battle I suggest spending all day here. My family and I spent 6 hours here and we would have stayed for longer but the weather was chilly. Start with the visitor... More

This was a wonderful visit to Vicksburg, the park is beautiful and the memorials are magnificent. Plan on staying all day, you just can't get through it all in a few hours. The entire park is wonderful.
