Because veterans of this battle returned to mark out key points of the battle, this is one of the most well documented battles of the Civil War. Full of history, great experience. It's a must do of Vicksburg.

You feel the presence of those that lost their lives. It was a somber experience. The museum there is worth the visit. If you have an America the Beautiful senior pass the admission is free.

Take the introductory film, then drive the well signposted drive around the site of the siege. Stop at each of the different vantage points and take in the history and the stunning views.
