My wife and I visited this to pay our respects. The lay-out is absolutely perfect---small, rolling hills holding rows of the dead. We were there near dusk which only added to the ambiance. a small, but very effective way to show you the destruction the...More

You can drive through the graves here while meditating on Lincoln' Gettsburg Address and a poem written to eternally commemorate the sacrifices of these soldiers, sailors.

It's a beautiful place but very sobering. 17000 graves 3/4 of them unknown. Too many brave boys with no names.

Drove through the cemetery as stop #8 of the park tour. It consists of a paved loop road surrounded by tens of thousands of gravesites. Numbered blocks mark the graves of those whose identities are unknown. Also found the graves of the two Confederate soldiers...More

If you do the driving tour of the Park, this is the next stop after the USS Cairo. It’s poignant how many of the Union graves are for unknown soldiers. Worth stopping to pay your respects.

Went from one place to another viewing the gravesites. Being an historian I realized many of those buried were unidentified simply because men (people) did not carry or wear ID. It is a place of great magnitude and reverence. I was moved to be here.

The magnitude of this great battle comes home to ones heart when all the headstone and unknown grave markers are viewed in their neat little rows. Row after row after row. It is very sobering.

Thousands of Union soldiers are buried here and thousands more are known only to their creator because their grave marker is labeled only with a number. The 20 min drive through the cemetery is well narrated. Stand a moment and reflect on the costly sacrifices...More

No........Sorry! And it is a lot of steps. This hillside is steep and not recommended. Wish you could do it though! Really amazing.
