We drove an extra 200 miles to visit Vicksburg so we could visit the National Park and Monuments .. History comes to life in this park

This monument is totally awesome! It is just amazing! BUT the 4ft tall weeds growing next to this monument takes away the beauty! It needs to be hush hogged really really bad! So sad!

The views leading up to the monument are breathtaking. So well perserved. On any day expect beautiful photos. Take plenty of water.

While touring the park on a very hot and humid June day, we debated on getting out and climbing the stairs to see the monument. We did it and were so glad. It is a beautiful tribute to the many lives lost at the battlefield.
