Well maintained monument that served to remind us of the greatness of our beautiful country, in SPITE of all the people who nowadays seem to want to tear this great nation down!

This is a very special monument. I was happy that I could go inside and see its beauty. It gives you more understanding about how big the Battle of Vicksburg really was.

The states provided monuments to honor the men that fought at Vicksburg. Some of monuments showed the positions occupied by state military units and others honored their leaders. Very large monuments were provided by many states to honor all those that served in the battle/siege.

As a fan of the world's greatest Navy, I was spellbound by the USS Cairo and the associated museum. The surrounding battlefield-which is the point of Vicksburg-causes somber reflection. No US history or military buff should miss visiting Vicksburg.

On our bike trip docent , Morgan Gates, historian with the park, was our guide through the park. Spectacular day with thorough review of the historical implications and how the results affected all the people involved.

It's a stop on the tour of the Vicksburg National Military Park. It is a tribute to the soldiers from Illinois. It's beautiful. It is one of the largest in the park.
