Step back in time just a few years before the Civil War started and see for yourself the many pieces of history, preserved and put on display at this beautiful old court house. The Court Room is just like they left so many years ago. A "must see" if you in the Vicksburg area.

There are a lot of artifacts here to see. The main courtroom was really neat, with the original iron judge's post and jury chairs. The chandeliers and staircase are great pieces of history.

So much stuff to see and history in this place. I love imagining times past and how the people lived back then. The staff was very friendly. I recommend it.

Loved the "Costume Room" which displayed fashions from the Civil War era. Women were so tiny back then! And the old courtroom was beautiful : iron railings, etc. You do have to walk up a flight of stairs to reach it and it was pretty warm (it was June in the South after all).

The lady who greeted us wasn't very friendly. Like what others have said, it really needs someone to organize it. There is several rooms of Civil War memorabilia, town history, and misc random pieces of history. The real gem is the building itself which was built before 1850 and the antique courtroom. It is worth stopping and looking at. Cost... More

The displays are interesting but are in need of some organization and care. The building is very old and interesting. We really enjoyed the old courtroom. They almost have too much on display with not a lot of explanation. We did enjoy our visit though. Vicksburg is truly a city rich in history!

As my husband says this is one of those museums that displays everything they have ever been given. So if you're into seeing a lot of stuff without much explanation or coherent order this is your place. If you'd like to understand what you're seeing, why it's important, etc. this is not for you. As other reviewers have said it... More

This is a good starting place in Vicksburg to get a full background of the city and its part in the Civil War. Excellent photos, displays, and stories. You can spend probably 2 hours there and see most of it.

We toured this museum almost on an afterthought. It was incredible! There are numerous exhibits with unique items and historical labeling. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful and friendly.
