This is run by the national park service and as always the rangers are extremely helpful. Try and spend 20 mins to watch the documentary about the History of the mission . The actual memorial is on the top of hill which is 5 min walk. On a clear day it offers great views of the valley and the blue... More

Traveling down to Walla Walla wine country there is a good spot to learn about local history and some names which are put on the map. The museum is not big but provide necessary information about local history.

We were blessed to have a guided tour in March of 2017 and it was wonderful. The man who gave our group a tour was so fun and so knowledgeable! We had a large group of children and families and it was wonderful for all ages. We had such a great time we took our large family ranging in children... More

Oregon Trail, westward expansion, Native American history and a massacre, plus great views, and, in the spring, possible Great White Pelicans flying overhead. If you're here, go.

This is worth a visit in between wineries. This is a piece of our NW history that should be acknowledged.

Anyone wishing to understand the Oregon Trail and the Native American experience will deeply benefit investing two hours here. The film -- at 25 minutes -- is a must-see. By the end, one feels the Whitman Massacre with balance. Had I been a Cayuse elder... Had I been Marcus Whitman... All of Walla Walla celebrates Marcus Whitman. Here is the... More

We walked the grounds, taking our time with every historical site. The interpretive center closed right when we got there, so we did not get the advantage of the park ranger's knowledge. In spite of that, it was well worth it. Note that the signs say it closes at 4:30, but the center actually closes at 4:00. The grounds are... More
