Yes you're on vacation and I understand you don't want to get up before dawn, but you must and come directly here. This was hands down our favorite Yellowstone experience. The animals are everywhere. While they are abundant during the day and evening, you will see animals everywhere in the morning.

Visited here for a week as the last stop on holiday with the family. We'd rented a cabin a couple of miles outside the gate near Cooke City so were within easy striking distance of the river and trailhead. Every day we got up before dawn and drove out a couple of miles either side of the trailhead and photographed... More

We were there for sunrise, sat there in our chairs with blankets (35deg) in July with our Boyscouts. We watched the herd including the calves graze in the valley. We were amazed at the additional herds coming down the mountains to join in the valley, lots of prong horn there as well. Take your camera with a good zoom lens,... More

So we spent a few days in the north back country and hadn't seen a single Buffalo. Well our Yellowstone Safari Company guide explained to us their migration patterns. We hit Lamar the next morning, viewed a grizzly dining on Buffalo, wolves, and thousands of Buffalo!!!

We did a hike here, an easy 4-5 miles one at the end of the day. We were stunned (and a little scared to be honest ) to encounter a huge bison, right on the track... We followed the advice given by the rangers: don't run, don't think that are slow and stupid, avoid them, quietly and surely! A few... More

This is not your every day drive through area, so plan accordingly. But the wildlife and views are unique and rewarding. I have seen bear, antelope, bison, deer, and elk in Lamar valley, so a paradise in it's own way.

If you are looking to get an up close view of all the wildlife that Yellowstone has to offer, you need to visit Lamar Valley. We entered the park just after sunrise and seen lots of wildlife. Several hundred bison along with moose and bears.

We only spent two and a half days in Yellowstone and this was the best part of the park. The scenery is magnificent and the animal sightings okay - it's like being on a safari, they might be there and they might not. We were lucky enough t see bison (who doesn't see them?) big horn sheep (just lying on... More

I thought long and hard about writing this review as there was a point when I wasn't sure if I would ever want to return to Yellowstone given the way some people behaved. I get that everyone wants to see as much as they can in Yellowstone and that minibuses and tour groups are part and parcel of life hear... More

We drove through the Valley and saw large Group of Bison. We were lucky to spot Antelope & Mountain Goat with telescope. It has unusual & good scenic beauty. Binoculars (available on rent) are a must if you really want to spot the wildlife
