If you can get there before several coach loads of tourists, it's great. Boardwalk the whole way, Elk nearby and the lake still mainly frozen in mid May. Good variety of pools and two short trails to Lake and Duck Lake nearby.

This is the pretties basin in Yellowstone. The colors are vibrant and truly stunning. Great place to get some lovely pictures.

Be sure to take enough time to visit all that Yellowstone offers and please be respectful of the eco system and wildlife. Unfortunately you can no longer even go to Morning Glory Pool because too many idiots were throwing coins, underwear and you name it.

West Thumb Geyser Basin is one of the smallest geyser basins in Yellowstone yet its location along the shore of Yellowstone Lake makes it as one of the most scenic. West Thumb has less geyser activity than other basins. For all the time that we had visited Yellowstone, we had never seen any eruption But West Thumb, for its size,... More

This was a less-traveled section of the south end of the park, but one we enjoyed. We loved walking the boardwalk and seeing Lake Yellowstone on one side and the Hot Springs on the other. Photos don't do this justice, but it was a really pretty walk.

There are various thermal pots of varying color depending upon the ores or metal contained in the. The red one with iron ore, a blue one and green one. Very Icy in the winter I did 2 full-twisting 1 1/2 s while walking around.

Make sure you stop and take this little hike. It is well worth your time. Be sure to stay on the paths and if you have small children do hold hands.

We took the time to walk the loop down to and back from Yellowstone Lake. This is a varied basin with a lot to see. Black Pool is as beautiful as any in the park and more subtle. Overcast skies limited visibility along shore of Yellowstone Lake, but wildlife on the ice more than made up for that. Definitely worth... More

The water is so clear and the shade of blue so vivid - just beautiful. Short easy walk from the car park and doesn't need much time to appreciate it.
