The beaches here are sandy as opposed to stony (the only sandy beaches we found on the river).
You get views to Yosemite Falls from the beaches. It is right by Cooks Meadow for more impressive views of Yosemite Falls, Half Dome and the valley.

the shuttle bus has a stop at this point, also there is a few parking spot, it's the staring point of the Cook's meadow, you can see the Yosemite falls at this spot.

Great location for Half Dome images when the Merced River is still for a wonderful reflection especially for sunset. Last week there were at least 25 cameras and tripods set up well before the sunset alpenglow. Many others with cameras crowded in. Fun was had by all!

We had a little difficulty figuring out where the bridge was. We initially thought it was only a pedestrian bridge. The bridge wasn’t anything special, but there was a nice view of Half Dome.

Sentinel Bridge is located just after the Yosemite Chapel. We had an excellent view of Half Dome reflected on the Merced River. The location is excellent for photo shoot.

In 2005 I took a beautiful photo of Halfdome with Stoneman Bridge in the center of the shot. My memory is that I was standing on the next bridge downstream. I do know that my position relative to Stoneman was only about four or five hundred yards down stream. Could I have been standing on Sentinel?
