Take this relatively short trail for some of the best views in all of Yosemite. If you want to really feel the scale of the view, go over to the metal guardrail for great photos and a hair-raising look down into the valley!

We had a great short hike (2.2 mile round trip) to Taft Point last November. The scenery was AMAZING (even better than the views from Glacier Point). From here you can see all three parts of Yosemite Falls (Upper Falls, Middle Falls, and Lower Falls), El Capitan, and the famous Yosemite Valley nestled among dangerously steep cliffs. The best part... More

I hiked from Glacier point at sunrise around to sentinel dome and Taft point. What an amazing hike with great views at every turn. Make the extra effort and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. There are no guard rails and dangerous drop offs so make sure you are aware of where your children are.

I've seen this hike advertised as one that is not to be missed...unless you don't like heights! You are so high up here, you are actually looking down on El Capitan across the valley. The hike is pretty easy both ways. The fissures are here also. Look over the side to see what 3,000+' straight down looks like!

We got an early morning start up the windy road from the valley. The walk out to the point was beautiful...green, shady, mossy trees, large boulders. When we arrived at the point there were some "youngsters" over the guardrails...thankfully no one fell.

this hike worked out great for me. 1 parking place, and 2 very do-able hike options. Chose Sentinel dome first, loved it. Went to Taft next, loved it too! It was relatively easy for Yosemite, and since I did it on my first day, was a good way for this flatlander to break my legs in. Great views, awesome place... More

Except for the last 5 to 10 fairly steep feet to the rail at the lookout, hike this is a fairly easy hike with great views, depending on where you drop in.

This is the place where you can definitively answer the question "Am I afraid of heights?" Make this short hike even if you are. Taft Point is one of the more easily accessible, spectacular overlooks anywhere. But be careful if you approach the edge. There is only one small spot with a railing and it is a sheer 3,000 foot... The trail to Taft Point is very manageable. At one point, you'll feel as if you are in the Ewok Forest as tall trees surround you. When the exit the forest, be mindful of the trail. It comes dangerously close to several unprotected crevices into which you can easily fall if you are distracted. The crevices are not marked or... More
