We did this hike in May 2017 after a winter of heavy snowfall, and it was amazing because of the amount of water that was coming downstream. It is quite a hike to the actual fall, and I have seen videos from other years and...More

We did this hike up to Vernal Falls during peak snowmelt. It was absolutely insane. We were hiking up the steps and I could see maybe 4 feet in front of me due to the mist. Be very careful because those steps are definitely slippery....More

First word of advice: go prepared. Take some sort of rain jacket because you will 100% get wet. Very wet. Take plenty of water and food. Even in June with an early morning start, it gets hot. This is is a beautiful hike. Do not...More

If you can cope with a lot of uneven steps and getting soaked it is well worth the walk. The average age when we were there was about half of ours - lots of families. we did dry out very quickly.

The trail starts with steep paved path. This is the hardest part as not much shaded area. You cross the river to green area. Then you enter the "misty" area. All stone steps with constant water from the fall. Rain gear is a must as...More

This was a great walk to do on the way up early in the morning. The only thing we did not expect was the free cool down from the mist. Given the volume of water coming down the mountain we actually got wet and cold...More

We did the Mist trail the last week of June. We rented bikes and we were able to park them right at the trail head. The trail is paved the whole way but it is also uphill the whole way to the bridge. Then more...More

Our family of five (kids ages 15, 12 and 9 my husband and I are 43 and 42 respectively and in fairly good shape) took this hike our first morning in Yosemite. It was beautiful, a bit difficult and wet! If bringing a camera, be...More

Small children would be OK but take frequent breaks and keep them in front of you so you can keep an eye on them. There are steep drop offs so they need to stay in the middle of the trail. As far as using a carrier you had... More
