Best to visit during the spring. Bring a rain jacket or poncho if visited during spring. You are going to get wet. The distance is short but it can be steep. You would need sturdy shoes to have good grip on the slippery rocks.

Exhilarating trail that takes up the side of a granite wall. What makes this the best hiking trail in the USA? It's paved or stepped the whole way up, but you feel like you've climbed a mountain. If you go all the way to the...More

Many happy times I have spent hiking this trail. Yes, you will get wet. I have seen, and also wore a trash bag to keep dry. Nothing better on a hot CA day!

This was by far was one of our highlights on our trip to California. We took the shuttle to the Happy Isles stop and started up the trail with a throng of other tourists. Although there were quite a few people, it wasn't overly crowded,...More

Small children would be OK but take frequent breaks and keep them in front of you so you can keep an eye on them. There are steep drop offs so they need to stay in the middle of the trail. As far as using a carrier you had... More
