After getting slightly fed up with constant crowds we tried this hike, we loved it so much we did the extended version which loops round and back to Tafts Point. Amazing views. Better than Glacier Point I think! Also missed a bear by 10 mins!

If you liked Glacier Point, you will love Sentinel Dome, which offers views of Yosemite Valley comparable, or even superior to, Glacier Point without the massive crowds if you are up for a bit of walking. Sure, you will not be alone. But there are FAR fewer folks at Sentinel Dome. It's a relatively easy one mile hike to Sentinel... More

This trail shares a parking lot with the Taft Point trail, a park ranger told us they were both easy and the same length. We did both hikes, and would rate this hike as harder than Taft Point but still "easy". We were here in July and did not even think about wearing sunscreen, which was a mistake, as this... More

We drove up to Glacier Point at dawn to beat the crowds and watch the sun rise behind Half Dome. Afterwards, we drove back down the road — passing several tour buses packed with visitors! Boy, we just made it — to the Sentinel Dome trailhead for an easy walk to the base of the dome. It was an equally... More

The hike up to Sentinel Dome is a little steep at the end but it is so well worth the work! You get an unimaginable complete view of Yosemite Valley and it's surroundings. We went in October so it was a little cool up there - not a bad idea to bring a little something to wear while you're up... More

Most of the hike is pretty easy, with easily marked trails.. the steep part towards is manageable and especially since the summit can be easily seen a few hundred meters away. Affords a great 360-degree view

This was our favorite hike on our Yosemite trip! We lived this hike, while short (2 miles RT) it felt like a good workout...perhaps the altitude helped!

Short hike up before sunset. Stunning 360 degree views. Fabulous sunset although we were there with a big tour group which took away a little from the ambiance. Head lamps a must for the descent down. We had a to 'rescue' some people who simply stopped as they could not see where they were going.

One of several awesome hikes up Glacier Point Road. Sentinel Dome affords superb views in all directions, from El Capitan to Half Dome. Parking didn't seem to be a problem and the hike is clearly marked. Wasn't particularly busy either, which surprised me a little. Your effort will be justly rewarded with really beautiful views.

a pretty easy and short day hike off the road to Glacier Point. Awesome 360 degree views from the top of the dome. Parking is limited, many park along side the road. One stall pit-toilet.
