Excellent and informative tour. Interesting to learn about orchids and see so many. This place is doing excellent conservation work in the midst of a lot of a deforestation. Come here to show your support and to learn something new. 75Q for a guided tour and cup of tea at the end. Easy to reach by bus from Cobán. Take a bus opposite Plaza Magdalena heading in the direction of Guatamala city/ San Cristóbal Verapaz and ask to get off at the Orquigonia. Should cost between Q3 - Q5. Great half day activity.

Quite a small trail, but very informative about orchids. The price of 50 quetzales each includes insect repellant, an introductory video, a guided tour and a cup of refreshing tea. We were the only visitors (mid afternoon, mid-week) so we had a personal tour and a calm environment.

This place is really unique, they have done an incredible work in rescuing and preserving orchids which otherwise would have been destroyed by different human activities in the region. The area is a small forest with beautiful views, where you can come to visit during the day or stay in very special rooms, cabins and even a very cute car (conditioned as a bed). The guides (people from the region of Cobán) were very friendly and knowledgeable, and all the staff were very kind and helpful. They even gave us some tiny orchids which were preserved in resine as a present! Orquigonia is definitely something you have to experience if you come to Guatemala!

I didn't have any expectations when we stumbled upon the Orquigonia today. We paid 50 Q per person and it included a short introduction video, a guided tour, and a nice cup of tea at the end of our tour. The tour lasted about an hour and our guide, Fernando, was so knowledgeable. There were many great views and we saw many birds. This was such a nice experience!

If you have even a little interest in orchids, this orchid preserve is worth visiting. You'll see and learn so much about orchids and their importance and the work being done to salvage orchids that would be lost to habitat destruction. After watching an introductory video (don't miss it), a guide will take you on hike through the preserve. They lend you a magnifying glass so you'll be able to see tiny orchids (~3 mm in size). My guide was Erick, who provided an insightful tour.
