Unusual seats in the cinema and an interval half way through the film.

We visited the Cinema Paradiso which was an interesting experience and also did a tasting at he Rippon Winery where we had a lovely view of the lake.

A long trip from the US, but if you venture to the S Island in New Zealand, this is a beautiful exquisite, clean, 'quiet' lake; with surrounding paths, mountains, and quaint town. You can spend weeks here and near, and never see or do it all. An outdoor paradise.

Wanaka is a really quaint lakeside town with beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. There are plenty of things to keep you busy. Lake activities, hiking (Rob Roy Glacier hike is good), wine tours, shops of all kinds and good restaurants. More beautiful and relaxing than Queenstown. We truly enjoyed our stay here.

Wanaka is a great little town. Plenty to do, but with a more chilled out vibe than it's neighbour Queenstown. Lots of amazing looking restaurants and bars, and a lovely lakeside beach to watch the sunset over the mountains.

We never visited Queenstown, but took some TA and guide book recommendations to use this as an alternative base for some of our NZ travel. We were delighted with the hikes available, the walkability of the town, the great restaurants. The town was crowded on one of the weekends we were there (we stayed twice), there was an agriculture fair... More

So many cute little unique shops & cafes & restaurants. There may only be 7,000 residents here, but they sure know how to show great hospitality!!! e were here a week & wasn't bored for a minute!!!

My wife and I visited here in March for the first time. It's a beautiful place. Lots of things to do and good food is available. We visited Puzzler World and the toy museum which we really enjoyed. Ate dinner at Speights Ale House which was yummy. Recommend this town to visit when in the lower South Island.

Wanaka is the not yet so crowded alternative to Christchurch. It is beautifully situated at the lake and offers a variety of bars, restaurants and cafés

We read so many good things about Wanaka and were surprised to find that we did not care for it. Every place was crowded. Very different vibe than what we were looking for. Seemed to be lots of groups camping on the streets, congregating in front of grocery store, coffee shops, etc. hard- partying kind of town? Not very scenic... More
