This is a very small aquarium which we reached by walking along the beach. We had an interesting, knowledgeable guide who told us all about the green backed turtle which breeds in this area. Good to see such conservation taking place.

If you wish to explore rather then just laying under the sun, this is one of the few things you can do when in Nungwi. You get to see and be informed about the sea turtles . . :)

Interesting initiative to save the green turtle. It's meat has been used for soup and it's shell to make objects of all sorts. This is forbidden now. A tour inside the sanctuary takes less than an hour. You can hand-feet the turtles. These youngsters deserve...More

This is not a conservation centre. I was lead to believe I would be snorkelling with turtles in the ocen. This place was far from that. While the turles looked happy enough, the village was very close the limestone pond indicating the water quality would...More

We were actually not looking for this place, but instead we were looking for Mnarani Marine Turtle Conservation Pond. But I am very happy that we found this place because it was so nice to feed them and swim with them. It cost 7 USD...More

Excelent job made by the local people. They are fighting to protect the ocean and the animals, teaching young generations how to recycle plastic and to protect the environment. You can see, feed and swim with the turtles. Don't miss it!

Don’t skip this place. Swinging with sea turtle was fantastic. Our 8 year daughter had a blast ... and so did we. The staff’s so nice and easy going offering to take pictures and giving us unlimited “turtle food” to attract the turtle to come...More

Nungwi did not have any facility, that we saw, for swimming with the turtles. It appeared to be focused on rescue.
