Staying a the local Pousada we could see the fortress from our balcony. Nothing much to see as regards the structure but amazing views
You can either walk up or drive. Driving is a challenge and the road is narrow and not in great shape. Either way, it's worth it as the views are wonderful. It's an interesting place to be as it just reeks of history. The wall...More
We undertook a nice after lunch walk to the summit and it was well worth the effort. The countryside was bathed in flowers and looked beautifully green. The castle walls are well maintained and are a delight to climb up to for the views.
amazing views of the area, lots of history, great place to meet new friends, this is also a wonderful place for romantic photographs
We went and were disappointed to find it is basically a wall enclosing a space and a church which was not open. Apparently in its usage period it gave shelter to the locals and their livestock but there is not much to see now.
Well worth the climb up. Deserted ruin that has great character and stunning views of the surrounding area. Never did find the medieval inscription but lots of pottery sherds
Unfortunately theres not much left of the castle for historians to work with; theres the outer wall and thats it. However theres a lovely little church where you would normally find the keep; rather quaint. Nevertheless, the castle wall is fully accessible and an excellent...More
