- 72heleneggWalsall, United Kingdom11 contributionsWonderful!Honestly one of the happiest things we’ve ever done. Sophie led the experience for us, she was extremely knowledgeable and put us at ease showing us how to handle the llamas. My 11 year old daughter loved every second. We took the llamas for a walk, we got Panda who love to snuggle, fed them then had a go at the agility course. As a bonus we also met the tame deer they have there, never see a a deer that close up so this was a joy. We were there about 90 minutes in total. Make sure you’re dressed for whatever the Welsh weather can throw at you! A really wonderful experience, Sophie was enthusiastic, engaging and knowledgeable. We’ll definitely be back.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 31, 2023
- Andrea WDudley, United Kingdom7 contributionsLlama trekking with my familyWe had a fantastic time learning about llamas and then doing the trek. The added bonus was the ability course at the end, which was lots of fun. I walked Dexter with my son, and my husband walked Panda with my daughter. I would highly recommend visiting black rock llamas.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 30, 2024
- Wharf NorthManchester, United Kingdom6 contributionsBrilliantFrom the first moment till the last, Sophie was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. Dexter and Antonio were fun to trek, and both had an appetite for everything growing. Great value for money, and lots of great photos. Thank you so much Sophie!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 21, 2024
- Tour74317775 contributionsGreat experience with friendly guidesThis was our third visit and despite being a grey wet day, we really enjoyed it again. Lots of great llama information at the start of the visit and the two ladies running the session were so friendly. The walk covers some uneven areas so do beware, but it was at a nice pace and the llamas were good at steering us all along the path. The visit ends with a llama agility course which is lots of fun. Another great visit and thanks to the two guides for making it so enjoyable. We'll definitely return.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten May 29, 2024
- SkunkcabbageChester, United Kingdom103 contributionsA really enjoyable experience for adults as well as younger people and lots of interesting facts tooA very enjoyable experience and thoroughly recommended. Sophie, who leads the session, is very knowledgeable and friendly and works so hard to ensure everyone is having a good time, and the llamas are OK. This is a really great activity for adults, as well as children and there is a lot to learn about these amazing animals. Sophie is a credit to Black Rock Llamas and, without her, I don't think the afternoon would have been the same. A big thanks for a great time!!Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 6, 2024
- N RPenkridge, United Kingdom6 contributionsFantastic ExperienceOne the best experiences that I have had in a very long time. Sophie was exceptional and had in-depth knowledge on everything about llamas. Sophie also explained to all every little thing and anticipated llamas quirks on our trek. This is a must do thing, you truly will not be disappointed.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 1, 2024

The Llamas were great fun and the kids adored every second of this activity! Will 100% be back next year!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 7, 2024
- Georgia E1 contributionMust do experience!Went llama trekking for the second time today and it was just as amazing as the first, we had derek previously who we were told had sadly passed, but Sophie has done an amazing job filling his boots! A lovely experience, you get to spend so much time with the llamas, walking, petting, feeding and doing agility! Will definitely be back!!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 12, 2024
- Nick G3 contributionsBrilliant afternoon's funWhat a wonderful afternoon! We met the lovely Sophie, who explained exactly what we were going to do and gave an introduction all about llamas with lots of interesting information. She then introduced us to the Llamas we were going to walk and full instructions on how to handle them. We had Dexter and Antonio (Ant & Dec) Such fabulous animals🥰 We then proceded on our walk through lovely countryside along gravel paths, with a few rocky sections but nothing too tricky or strenuous. The Llamas were very well behaved and easy to control with the leads and words of command. The ever enthusiastic Sophie kept us entertained with more Llama facts all the way round. When we got back to the paddock we had a demonstation of Llama agility then we all had ago running with a Llama over the hurdles. Then it was time for a quick photo shoot before feeding the Llamas, and meeting all the other Llamas including getting a kiss from one of them. We all had a great time, the Llamas were lovely and I would reccomend this to anybody who likes animals. Thank you Sophie.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 18, 2024

Visited Black Rock Llamas with my 11 year old daughter who is animal crazy. Whole experience is an hour and a half, short talk about llamas and a demonstration of how to handle them, a practice around the enclosure, then off for a leisurely trek. One llama between two people, stopping and starting so the llamas could nibble the blackberries and trees. Back to the enclosure and time for llama agility with Caspa the world champion llama.
Great fun, the llamas are very friendly and easy to handle. We'll be back next time we're in the area

We booked the llama trek online & when we arrived it was a great set up. Due to being just after lock down, felt safe & hand sanitisers available as well as distancing. The trek was great fun & lovely views.
At the beginning there was an informative talk on llamas & talk about how to handle them which was very straight forward.
I have done llama treks in the past & this was also good.
The only down fall for us was that we were expecting a llama each for the ÂŁ25. On every other llama trek I have done it is one llama per person for the same price unless you request to share which the price is than lowered for you.
However as long as you're aware its 1 llama per person, it's great fun!

Extremely well organised and thoroughly enjoyable 90mins+. Booked for family of four well in advance (necessary). Well run, and the chap who runs it is clearly very knowledgable / passionate about the Llamas. Good introduction to the Llamas followed by the 'trek' which is a modest distance - not epic but certainly long enough to create a great experience, any longer and younger kids/older folks may struggle. Lots of photo opps throughout and a great twist at the end when Casper, the Guiness World Record holder shows off his skills! Highly recommend - an enjoyable, well organised experience which is good value for money, particularly given the small groups (in our case two families).

Brilliant couple of hours spent in the company of Derek and his gorgeous llamas. Bertie was a real character and took every opportunity to reach up and tear leaves from the trees, covering us both in rainwater as the branches sprung back. Enormous fun and would highly recommend to anybody visiting North Wales. We will be back again and again. Thank you!!

Visited today with my wife and two children (aged 12 & 7) and we really did have such a wonderful time. The chap who owns it you can see absolutely loves these animals and knows everything about them. On arriving he told us lots of interesting facts about them. We were then handed a llama each and went for a nice walk with them. Then once we got back we got to run an obstacle course with one and get it to jump over a racing hurdle. The llamas are so friendly and well looked after and you could see how much they loved the walk and the attention and were so content

Today we visited this fabulous place. I booked online and wasn't sure what to expect. When we arrived the very lovely man "Derek" I think did a talk on the lamas and it was very interesting and funny. We then practiced walking the lamas before we went on a trek in the hills. My two kids 11 and 8 absolutely loved it as did me and my husband. They are so tame and beautiful. We enjoyed every second, money well spent and will remember it forever. Thank you x

Brilliant experience we absolutely loved it. We booked online which was really easy and we’re greeted at the gate upon arrival. After a 15 minute talk about lamas which was both interesting and informative we were paired up with a lama. Myself and daughter had leads for one lama and we walked Casper the lama together through woods. We fed the lamas and the owner even took photos for us followed by a lama agility couple!! A really unique experience, well organised and a lovely host. Thankyou

My 2 best pals and I had such a fun time at Black Rock Llamas, and even though the Welsh weather decided to pour down incessantly, Dave was such a fabulous host that it didn’t dampen our spirits. These llamas are absolutely loved and cared for, and we enjoyed every minute in their company. Such gentle animals and learnt a lot about them too from Dave who clearly has devoted his life to them. The trek itself was a little rocky in areas and sometimes slippy given the rain, but Dave took the group at their own pace, stopping at regular intervals to ensure everyone was ok and happy. A hugely enjoyable experience and one I would definitely recommend if you’re visiting this part of North Wales.

Absolutely fantastic afternoon enjoying a lovely trek with the llamas and Derek. The llamas are brilliant and so well trained and we got to take part in some llama agility with Casper too. We’d definitely recommend it as a must do when visiting Black Rock/Porthmadog

What is the maximum group size you do as I can’t see how to book for a group larger than 5

Would it be suitable for almost 3 year old who loves animals?
Written July 29, 2017
What sort of price are the activities?
Written August 18, 2015
There are different activities so best phone them up. I can't remember what we paid for 1.5 hour trek but I remember it was reasonable - about the same as pony treking
