We stopped in during the middle of August and yes, it was a little smoky outside. Although this winery has really beautiful outdoor seating, amongst the trees and shade, we chose to taste wine inside today.
It was a very good tasting. Some very fresh tasting, crisp, and refreshing white wines were sampled first.
This family’s story is really quite something. Literally generation upon generation involved in winemaking or the viticulture industry. These people really know their stuff when it comes to producing good wine.
It’s right along the highway, so if you’re driving through Summerland, I’d recommend stopping in.

We were so impressed by the passion from the lady on the morning of August 16. Her love of her job and the vineyard family was apparent. Her description and knowledge of the wines was so appreciated. Wines are amazing!

My wife and I visited the winery this month. We were very impressed with not just the wines but also with the way the tasting was conducted. All done very cordial and yet professional. Mrs.Stefanie Schales is a great host and their Riesling is an absolute winner, it’s an amazing wine. But then, their Pino Noir is also excellent.

Just got told it was a $10 tasting fee but they would waive it if you spent $40...each! Rip off! There’s over 400 wineries in the valley, you can do WAY better elsewhere!

We do have a tasting fee and for that fee our guests enjoy a tasting of 5-6 ( bubbly included) of our estate wines with a winery team member which provides guests a more intimate, safe, less crowded, one on one experience.
We let every guest know of our tasting fee and minimum purchase if they are wanting to book a tasting so there is no surprise at the end of the tasting to the fee's we request. There is no rip off intended. Every winery has different policies and tasting fees, and we stand by our policy.

I went to this winery with friends. We were on the deck leading into the wine shop staying the appropriate distance from others. I touched a "dirty" menu and was YELLED at by a teenage staff member to not touch this item and " go stand over there"....pointing. I am a senior. Disrespectful rude and unnecessary treatment.
When we were finally called to the shop window we were asked by a different staff member " why are you here"? We are at your winery to taste and purchase some wine ...I was thinking??
Respectful kind calm treatment of customers is an absolute must. This winery has lost my business and that of friends and family I would have brought with me.

After having reviewed this day with staff and having been present myself during this day, I find this review quite surprising.
We do have new guidelines in place in to ensure our guests and staff are kept safe and we must be sure that all guests follow these guidelines. This includes following the arrows laid out on our pathways and waiting to be greeted by our staff to check if you have a tasting booked or are here for a purchase. We try our best to accommodate walk up customers but again due to current restrictions we cannot not always offer tastings to every group that arrives.
To address the dirty menu issue - sanitizing our tasting areas and menus between guests is of highest priority for us. This is to be sure that each and every guest can feel safe knowing they are in a clean and sanitized area.
I understand how this may feel restrictive or feel that people are being too direct, but our staff must follow protocol put in place for the safety of everyone. We ask that people not sit or touch surfaces areas that have yet to be cleaned, this is yet again to ensure safety of all visiting our winery.
I am confident that my staff did their very best to handle this situation. Our staff go above and beyond everyday to provide a welcoming experience to visitors.

What an unexpected great surprise visiting this vineyard !!
Family owned and run for...wait for it...8 generations. You can feel the passion as they take time to describe the wines and history.
I think she was one of the owners who led out tasting. Really funny and informative.
Best experience of our week

Some wine tasting hosts are just going through the motions; some are way too high-brow to be understood; the young lady at 8th Gen was so interesting and genuine it made for a great experience. To top it off the wine is AWESOME too.

Had a great tasting on the covered patio with a knowledgeable younger host. He poured us the best sparkling wine on our trip (we bought a few bottles of "Confidence 2018" at a great price, but wish we bought more!).

We arrived at the winery just to pick up a few bottles for our daughter in law, when we tried to pay, their card swiping machine was not working, the fella kept trying to put the transaction through. Natalie came over to help, offering different ways to make it work, even entering the numbers manually, etc. Natalie and the young gentleman were looking after us just fine when Beth came over and started abruptly telling us we should contact our bank as our card was not working, Natalie tried to keep the situation professional, and reiterated to Beth that they had been having trouble with the machine all day, to which Beth kept on telling “us” there is a problem with your card. I tried to explain to Beth that I work for a bank and that I just used my card 15 mins prior to this transaction and it worked fine. Beth was very rude, abrupt and had a real attitude with us. When were were sitting in our car about to leave Beth came out, gave us “a look”, got into her car and charged out of the winery lot. Staff like Beth shouldn’t work with the public. Natalie and the younger gentleman were lovely, professional and accommodating, thank you for making us feel welcome even when your coworker was extremely unprofessional and rude.

Hi Samantha,
After reading your review of your experience at my winery I am quite surprised by your review. After speaking with all the staff involved there did not seem to be any issue with the way Beth handled the transaction. Beth is our Operation Manager and was asked to help the staff figure out what the issue was with the machine. There was no personal issue and she was trying her best to figure out why the card was not working after hearing that Ethan had already tried multiple times to process it already.
I have utmost confidence in my team and their professionalism in all situations. This is a very personal and undeserved review on a staff member that was doing their best to fix an issue. If you have any other thoughts please contact me directly at info@8thgeneration.com
