About
Sumac Ridge Estate Winery was the first operating estate winery in British Columbia. We have been dedicated to producing wine from 100% BC grown grapes since our inception. We are the home to three unique brands in one iconic location, Sumac Ridge Private Reserve, Steller's Jay traditional method sparkling wines are wonderfully vivacious, perfect for any occasion. The bold wines of the Black Sage Vineyard speak to the terroir, telling the story of the right vines planted in the right place at the right time. Visit the winery for a tasting, food and wine pairing experience or picnic. We are open year round for tastings and our experiences run from May to October.

John C was an amazing host during our recent visit to Sumac Ridge. Would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting an interesting visit and tasting.

We stopped without a reservation and paid $5 to taste 4 white wines. The pinot grigio was the stand out wine and was only £13.99 plus tax. The staff were very friendly and even poured us an extra free tasting of their port paired with chocolate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting experience with John C. He was extremely knowledgeable. It was a real pleasure to spend time learning about the winery and tasting old favourites and wines that we hadn’t tried before.

This winery has a spectacular view! Our tasting master, John C, was as charming as he was informative. Recommend 10/10 and for our group the greatest way to end the whole day tour of wineries in Summerland.

Just spent a wonderful tasting experience with John C. at Sumac Ridge Estate Winery. A great experience for our out of town guests. They couldn't believe the quality of wines there compared with wines they'd previously tested at other wineries did not compare with those at Sumac. John was an amazing host! I highly recommend this winery for tastings, lunches and buying wine!

What a perfect way to spend an afternoon! Our host, John C., took us through a delicious and educational wine flight. After choosing a bottle of Black Sage Zinfandel, we enjoyed a glass outside in the midst of all the beautiful grapevines on the Estate.

First and foremost, John C was a fantastic host and wine tasting guide. His knowledge alone of the winery history and current offerings was exceptional. Our whole group loved his lighthearted nature and approach to our individual tastes. Secondly, I was sincerely impressed by this winery's overall offering. Visiting from Calgary, AB, my impression of Sumac Ridge wines prior to this visit was very simple, approachable vino that didn't have much to offer in terms of flavor. I was pleasantly impressed with how many small batches that are only available from the winery itself that showcase a distinct flavor unlike anything I expected.
