We are the home to three unique brands in one iconic location, Sumac Ridge Private Reserve, Steller's Jay traditional method sparkling wines are wonderfully vivacious, perfect for any occasion. The bold wines of the Black Sage Vineyard speak to the terroir, telling the story of the right vines planted in the right place at the right time. Visit the winery for a tasting, food and wine pairing experience or picnic. We are open year round for tastings and our experiences run from May to October.

Some customer service would be appreciated. We were "walk-in". There was nothing on the site immediately indicating an appointment would be appreciated. The wait for the tasting (although the tasting areas were empty) was about five minutes. Then a gentleman came and indicated we should go here, no here, no here. Finally we were in the right place. We only had a choice of four set "menus" of white/mixed/red/ premium I think. Other than the colour of the wine, no choice at all. The tasting was very brief. The cost for each tasting was $10 and was NOT waifed with any purchases (one bottle of wine, one cook book and one chocolate bar). I then had to wait ten to fifteen minutes (with only one person ahead of me) to be able to make my purchases. Although there was a credit card machine where we tasted, I was not able to purchase any thing at that location. A thoroughly disappointing stop. This would be the only bad stop after visiting approximately 15 wineries in a two week period.

We had pre-booked our tasting of Black Sage wines, and we checked in and were taken promptly to our pre-poured tasting at a private table. The wines are very good and award-winning. Unfortunately our host knew very little about the wine, admitting she was "just getting into it", so was unable to share anything other than the script she had been given. She was perfectly nice, but it's always disappointing when we know more about the wine than the employees.

We didn't make an appointment but they were able to fit us in for a tasting. Our host John C was awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. He didn't mind at all that we'd brought our two young kids with us. He was very careful about following Covid-19 protocols, which we really appreciated.
The wines were great and there were a variety of price points - we really liked the premium Black Sage label. Great view from the winery too.

We had a great time at Sumac Ridge Estates Winery yesterday. John took us through the tasting explaining how to do a proper tasting, providing details on each of the wines and the history of the Winery. Of the 5 wineries we visited yesterday, they were the only one that provided a separate glass for each wine to be tasted (first class). Sumac has a very flexible wine club. The gift shop has some unique items reasonably priced. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. All in all, a wonderful experience.

We had a great wine tasting experience with John C as our gracious host! He was super knowledgeable and friendly. He took us through an informative tasting and even went out of his way to get us a couple extra samples of some wines we were curious about. I would highly recommend visiting Sumac Ridge. We will definitely return the next time we are in Summerland. Thankfully we have many bottles to enjoy at home :)

Dropped in without a reso to do a wine tasting this afternoon. Luckily they had an opening and we were thrilled with the experience! John took the time to explain the process of making their signature Brut and some of the other wines they make. The other staff were all equally friendly and helpful. Don’t know how we’ve missed stopping in here before as it’s been a Summerland fixture for decades. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy lunch and purchase more of their reasonably priced wines.

I had a group of 4 go for a tasting last weekend. I had heard of sumac ridge before but wasn’t too sure if I was going to get anything. Then we had John C for our tastings. And he was FABULOUS. He was so knowledgeable and personable. And really told us about the history of wines. He even went the extra mile to answer all our questions. And told about more wines then just the samples that were out. He was so great my entire group left with a bunch of bottles and we look forward to drinking them and talking about how much we LOVED John!

We booked a tasting/pairing appointment for the Winter Series 2020. We tasted 5 different wines that were each paired with a small food item. Everything we tasted was wonderful and our host, Guillaume was so gracious and so knowledgable. We enjoyed every moment, especially since we were the only ones that booked the early time! We were treated so well by all the staff. The venue for the tasting/pairing was in a sml building beside the shop that was decorated beautifully with large wine barrels from Italy and lovely lights and artwork. We felt very special and ended up buying some wine that has become some of our favourites!! Black Sage Pipe and Cabernet Sauvignon!! We will return soon!!

We stopped without a reservation and paid $5 to taste 4 white wines. The pinot grigio was the stand out wine and was only £13.99 plus tax. The staff were very friendly and even poured us an extra free tasting of their port paired with chocolate.

Thank you John C for the exceptional wine tasting this afternoon. John hosted us for a fabulous wine experience which resulted in a wine membership and purchase of many enjoyable wines for the future. My favourites were - Black Sage Viognier, Black Sage Whisky Barrel Aged Red and Black Sage Pipe port. Top notch service.
