Stunningly beautiful. It was a difficult hike at times and a like of stairs but very worthwhile once you reach the pyramid.

This solitary pyramid is on top of the local mtns in Tepoztlan, El Tepozteco. I love going for this hike in the morning, before the crowds show up and while the many vendors set up. Beware the $90 Pesos entry fee at the actual Pyramid.

My review and pictures are in Z. A. El Tepozteco. Sorry, I did not realize the hike had been named different things by different travelers. You will also find reviews of Tepotzotlán -- the town at the base of the zona arqueológica Tepozteco -- both here and under "Teptozlán".

it's a hard time to climb the mountain, but the feeling was very good at the top of the mountain.

We went to Tepozteco on a Sunday, arriving around 1:30 in the afternoon. On Sundays, they do not charge an entrance fee. Hence, the climb was extremely crowded - as in there were hundreds of people ahead of us and behind us the entire time. I would strongly suggest that to enjoy the most out of this hike, which climbs... More

We arrived at the city around 9am. There are few small parking lots at the street that leads to the pyramid (run by locals, marked with ´E´ like estacion). The one we stopped at was 10 min walk from beginning of the entrance of the Park, costed us 50 pesos for unlimited time. There is also one super close to... More

Tepozteco is a great place to exercise with beautiful scenery. Also kid friendly. If one was to visit they would never regret it.

If you are up to experience what Tepoztlan is all about you need to climb the Tepozteco. Although not a long hike, it is steep and there are lots of rocks. So make sure to wear comfortable shoes and watch your step. Make sure to go early, especially on the weekends as it can get very crowded and miss on... More
