Entering the city of Jingzhou from Wuhan through the East Gate and the city gate was cool. Climb up the East gate tower and see a fairly good panorama of the city as well as a glimpse of the Yangtze river where the anticipated Yangtze River cruise will begin. There are statues of soldiers and various gods on the East... More

This is a must for any traveller who visits Jingzhou. With history in abundance and many areas in which to sit and relax, my friend and I were overwhelmed by the beauty of this site. We took a golf cart around as it otherwise would have taken us all day to walk around it. Time which we didn't have as... More

The ancient city was interesting, complete with statues of warriors in brilliant color. It is a large area, and requires a fair bit of walking. after walking Tiennaman square, terra cotta soldiers, great wall, etc...this was somewhat anticlimactic, but still enjoyable.

Which were cool. But I just saw the city walls of Chester and York in England 4 months ago, so these were a little anti climactic. It was cool that they had two walls between which they trapped people and shot them like sitting ducks. If you're there, go have a look.

I was disappointed by how few things there are to really see in Jingzhou. I was only here 24 hours, but still expected a bit more than there is and most of the sites listed seem to be closed. The city walls and gates are the best things to see and in the evening, around the gates, the locals come... More

After our stop at the Jingzhou museum, our guide took us to the Old City Wall. Around the grounds there are life sized figures of soldiers and inside the building there is a scale model of the town behind the walls. From about 30 feet up on the battlements you have views of the surrounding area. We only spent between... More

Obviously Jingzhou was a key city in China during centuries before and after Han Dynasty. The City Wall and its gates are the main civil and military things remaining in Jingzhou out of temples. No more ancient houses and typical streets like in Pingyao, Suzhou etc... It is possible to visit the large gate of Dongmen and to get on... More

Jingzhou is a quite beautiful ancient city and is surrounded by river. We visited the city in spring when numerous Sakura bloomed beautifully. The best way to appreciate the scenenary is joining buggy tour around the city.

The wall and the East Gate are very well preserved, and the watch tower is now a museum with interesting exhibits. If you have time, it would be fun to walk further around the wall.

The city wall is not as impressive as the one in Xian, but it is very interesting and quite cheap to access. The wall has many gates and towers which you can clamber over, its surrounded by a moat and makes for great photo opportunities, I really loved walking around in the sunshine imaging what it must have been like...
