We came to Costa Rica to learn to surf and Ben gave excellent detailed instruction to have the tools to really progress. We will definitely be back for more lessons on our next trip.

My wife and I signed up for 5 days of beginner lessons with Ben and thought we'd last 2 days before becoming frustrated. We surfed all 5 days and wished we had more time. Ben is a patient and hands on teacher. He started the week as our instructor and ended the week as a friend.

We visited Mal Pais for a birthday trip and booked Nalu's 3-pack surf lessons. Ben was great on email, setting up the days and times with me as we had a jam-packed schedule. We were 4 ladies with very little to no experience and very different abilities. Ben picked us up from a set location and dropped us back for... More

I've tried surfing before but never having a lesson. I had my first lesson with Ben and it was truly amazing. He was so knowledgeable, professional, and a great guy. I learned so much and was able to have a really good time surfing. I can't recommend him enough. Nalu surf shop has great stuff and awesome instruction.

My boyfriend and I were keen to become proficient, and Ben was very patient. He took us out several times, and had us up on our boards in no time. We recommend this school to beginners. Ben is a great teacher, not a lot of bluster, but is instead very considered as he guided us through the waves.

Was recommended Nalu from two separate people and wasn't disappointed. Ben the owner is a great dude and offers very fair prices for lessons. David and Ramón were both great instructors and nice guys to chat with. Really learned a lot and on the last day got to go out to a sweet spot a few miles down the beach.... More

We got back from Costa Rica a week or so ago and I can't rave enough about the experience. Surfing with Ben from Nalu was a particular highlight. I was completely new to surfing and a bit nervous, but felt safe and guided throughout the week of lessons that myself and my husband enjoyed with Ben. He was particularly adept... More
