Admission costs $3 per person for a short walk along a rope walkway to a waterfall with a large plunge pool, the size of a swimming pool. It’s as convenient and easy to walk as possible, taking natural pictures or selfies with your loved ones along the way on the colorful rope bridges. The waterfall is not big, it wasn’t particularly impressive. But the font itself is like a swimming pool, large, clean, where even children can safely swim. There is a locker room and a shelter with benches. Beautiful butterflies flutter around the bushes with flowers, and for free. Around 16:00 everything starts to close, although officially they are open until 17:00. Across the street there are clean, free toilets with paper and a changing room. For some money you can ride from above the waterfall on a zip line. The temperature here is about 24 degrees, it’s good if there is no rain. We were lucky that we didn't get wet.

Well, if you want to see some water, you can check it out when you're around. I would recommend that you only pay the entrance fee $3,- to go and see the waterfall. You can also take the exit to take a dip. But that water is built. With a fifteen minute walk you are already at the exit.

They make a reasonable combined price for falling and swimming; it's worth it. My friend paid $6.50... I pay less because I'm a resident.
Since 2020, they have added a passage and this place is so quiet, it is rejuvenating. They now also have a little zip line...
Obviously, the water flow is much more impressive in November (rainy season) than in May-June... after the dry season!!
It's true that you can see few animals, especially birds... but with the noise of visitors who are not attentive to nature, obviously that birds stay away.
I think for the price, it's worth stopping...
Note: I am from Quebec. I didn't change at the bottom (left France), because I can't find Panama where I live now....)

Entry to the Chorro El Macho is $5/person just to see the waterfall, and an additional $2.50 to swim in the natural pool. We were told at the entrance that the “hike” to the waterfall took 15-20 minutes. That was completely inaccurate. The walk (it wasn’t really a hike) took 5 minutes (7 if you walk really slowly) to get to the waterfall (i.e., el chorro). When I asked a staff member about the statement that the hike took 15 minutes, he responded that it was 15 minutes round trip. The waterfall was pretty, the air was fresh, and the setting was calm, but the experience was not worth $5/person. We were disappointed and felt cheated! We spoke to others visiting at the time who noted feeling similarly disappointed. Thankfully, we had decided not to swim in the natural pool because we would have been even more upset about spending money there. Granted, $5 isn’t much when you’re traveling; still, the Chorro El Macho isn’t worth it. Save your money and go for a hike to the India Dormida for $3/person for foreigners. You’ll see a waterfall, though smaller than the one at Chorro El Macho, on the way to the top and will experience beautiful views of the Valle de Anton once you climb all the way to the top.

Well, I thought this place will create more emotions, but it didn't. It is worth to visit, although it takes circa 4 hrs to get to this place from Panama City.
El Chorro Macho, named also Chorro Del Macho is a place in th ewoods with some wooden narrow bridges, "natural" pool and tirol. Visiting this place takes circa 30 minutes with no rush.
At the entrance you have a small shop and tickets office. In February 2023 the costs were as follows:
5 USD entrance
2,5 USD swimming in the pool
20 USD short 60m tirol slide
60 USD longer tirol slide
It is nice place, very green, very quiet, nice waterfalls, but ... well, for me something was missing in here. Definitly has potential for more good feelings.

If you are looking to do a "hike", so you can say you went hiking, then this place gets 5 stars.
Then 10 minutes later, you can wipe your brow and call it a day.
Don't waste your time (10 mins), and your money, you probably have a more spectacular creek in the culvert at home.

Our family went here for a day hike and swim. Overall, we really enjoyed this short hike through the forest on bridges and trails. Since we went in dry season, April, the falls were small but beautiful. The best part was going to the natural swimming pool to hang out to enjoy the flora/funa of the area. I don't know how people can complain about this place Or the small $5 entry fee, cmon its totally worth every penny & I'd go back again with friends.
My only compliant, is they tell you 45 min in the pool & then you have to leave.

Visited here while spending few days at El Valle.
The waterfall was reachable with bicycles from the town centre, and the entrance fee was well worth the cost. In addition to the beautiful forest path and waterfall you have the possibility to swim. The pool water comes fresh from the waterfall, but the pool is made easy to swim and there are booths to change clothes at.
On the path to the waterfall we also saw beautiful glass winged butterfly!
Thanks!

my boyfriend and I enjoyed the hike very much not so much for the intensity but because our tour guide Edwin Perez was very knowledgeable. he took his time to share with us his knowledge of the fauna and the regions history. we conversated practicaly about everything and anything pertaining to panamas culture, it’s history, holidays, wild life etc.. definitely worth the tip.

Comes with a short walk around on some fun rope bridges and stuff, very accessible, we just paid the $5 each to see the waterfall, didn't bother with the pool etc. There's some nice birds around, the waterfall is pretty, no complaints. Lots of people seem to think $5 is expensive to see a waterfall, I guess that depends on your context. I'd spend that on a cup of coffee so have no issues paying it to go towards preserving some natural features, but yeah I guess there are other waterfalls around you can see for free if you resent it that much

Hi everyone, Do you know if pets are allowed into the waterfall hike? I'd love to take my dog along...
Written October 30, 2016
It is up to the workers that are on staff to make this available. If you feel inclined to give them a tip, this would help the situation and make it possible to bring in your dog.

Once you are in El Valle, where exactly do you go to hike to the waterfall if you are going on your own without a guide?
Written August 8, 2016
Go through the main town of El Valle... past the market on your left (there is a little tourism office there) keep going over a little bridge... take the right fork (you will see tourist signs to El Macho) just a little way further will be a grass roofed hut on the left... parking area is just before it... $5 for hike, $5 to use the public swimming pool and about $50 to go on the ziplines.
